Had pretty bad experiences with Citi. I had a bunch of Thank You points on a card that I was holding on to until I could spend the points. But they closed the account without my approval because I didn't use it for a few months. When I asked them to cash out the points, they said I can't anymore since the account was inactive. I don't trust them when they say points don't expire, since they clearly can take away access at some point. Maybe my experience was unique. It's just something to keep in mind for people who are thinking about opening this card and not spending the rewards right away.
yeah my experience wasn't quite as bad as yours but I also had a bad experience with citi and haven't had their stuff in 6 years. Maybe it's time to dip my toes in, I'm not sure. I just have no way to spend 4k in 3 months.

So I unfreezed the credit and applied and got "Unfortunately, we were not able to approve your application.". Citi shows my Fico to be 830, and I did not apply for credit cards last year so not sure whats the story here. I had this card last time 5 years ago.

What kind of gift cards can you get with these points? Would Amazon gift cards be available? I don't want to sign up and get the points if the only gift cards I can get are for BS stores.

It mentions $800 in gift card value. But is there a way to get actual cash?
iwheela
yes. you go to redeem as cash, cash value is 400. I just applied for this card few mins ago, 7,500 limit.

I only did it because found out my car needs new clutch/transmission and its gonna cost me 5,000 installed. boom. day 1, getting those points. redeeming 800 in apple cards, for when iPhone 13 releases in few months. prob keep it open til next renewal and close it.

had a score of 807 fico it showed me when I applied

I was denied on this one and I have a 750 credit score, make over 6 digits, and not much debt. Said they would send an email with why I was denied but haven't received it and it's been over 4 hours.

Pretty surprised as I have 20k credit limit cards...

It's possible their algorithm calculated that you have too much credit extended to you already between all of your cards. I assume you have multiple cards, so correct me if I am wrong there.

You can try calling their reconsideration line as well at 1-800-695-5171.

Let us know how it goes with respect to amex.

I just closed out my Thank You universe. Thinking of going for Amex Platinum, but have 2 CSR in the family so not sure if worth it to take on another hefty fee card.

I could cancel one CSR and move to Amex.

Why even keep two CSR cards in the family?? Me and my wife each have a complete set of every other UR card that Chase offers, and pool all of our points into a single CSR.

I ask myself the same question.

We've each had it since it came out and was giving out crazy signup bonus. Since then, year over year we've each made whole or more on the annual fee. Hence never bothered to cancel.

Plus, yours truly was once blacklisted from Chase for abusing signups. CSR was my way back into Chase after a long back and forth, so I just don't want to give up mine. The same story prettifies my spouse. Lol.

You can merge all the points from your and your wife's CSR accounts into one?
If so, good to know.

Yup definitely! Very useful. We've got 11 active chase UR credit cards between us, and only a paying a single CSR annual fee. The ecosystem is great, as long as you know how to maximize earnings.

CSR — 3% travel and dining
CF/CFF— 5% categories, or if MasterCard needed
CBIC — 5% cable & phone bill
CFU/CBIU— 1.5% everything else

I usually only carry these cards in my wallet: CFF / CSR / CBIU / Citi Costco / debit. I have a ton of other credit cards opened for SUB (like this one soon), which I keep in drawer once bonus achieved.

I haven't found any other annual fee cards worth renewing beyond first year, post sign up bonus.
