I missed out on PS5 so far but I might do this to get $800 in Target or Best Buy gift cards to get a PS5 this fall, assuming they will finally be available to the mass public by then. If not, that's fine - $800 in gift cards at Target can go a long way for Christmas shopping.
With Premier they recently improved the cashback rate to 1cpp. So you can actually just do $800 statement credit or $800 direct deposit if you want. No need to mess with gift cards.

Thanks for confirming. Also, as someone said 6-7 points hit to credit score is well worthy $800. We are lucky to have these types of promos. My parents in Poland have to actually pay to use their Credit Cards.

Plus you don't even need gift cards anymore as Premier offers 1cpp for cashback now. Direct deposit, statement credit, and check by mail get 1 cpp value, so you can do $800 real cash back.

I will report back in 3 days. my statement is ending and I will be redeeming to bank account, better this way due to me getting 3% back using Apple Card anyway on apple products.

Rumor has it Citi will officially add American as point transfer partner (on trial now), that would make it the only major reward system that can directly transfer to American nowadays. So if you live in an American hub city and has churned both AA credit cards, this might be the way to do it, albeit you can still use other methods booking AA like UR/MR to BA Avios

I just redeemed points on my Premier for 1cpp a week ago using direct deposit. They changed this back in May-ish time ahead of this elevated offer.

Anyone know if you cancel or downgrade the Prestige card after signing up for the Premier card, would that make you ineligible for the sign up bonus on the Premier card. TIA

Sign up bonus codes into your account at approval time. If you were approved with the bonus, you can do whatever you want afterward.
