Going to divert my spending onto another card. I called in to ask why my application was denied and was told I already applied for another card and have to wait 45 days.

The CSR even told me that we can't make an exception even though you have been a long time customer. What a joke!

I'm not going to o bother with Citi and more they lost a customer for life. I wonder if they're like Capital one and prey on certain profiles and predatory lend.

I just got approved for Amex BCP at $26k

Got approved, spent 4k in the first week. Cashout bonus points and closed account with a refund of $95 fees(if you close within 37 days of fee posted on your card).
Is it consider as "Fraud, Misuse, Abuse, or Suspicious Activity". How easy to cancel the card? Does CSR give you a hard time or any warning? I like to do what you did if it's legit. Thanks

There is no rule regarding when you can close card.. CSR just went ahead and closed my card. They asked me to cash out points before closing which I already did.

Nope, but they did modify some aspects of their underwriting early in the pandemic - in particular, becoming far more restrictive regarding recent inquiries - and unlike other banks, haven't significantly loosened up this year.

buy a new macbook pro if you need it or buy some electronics during black friday. it will easily surpass $4k combined with other purchases. you can sell your current macbook pro on ebay to recoup some cost.

Technically , these rewards are less when compared to other cards w/ or w/o annual fees… e.g. if 3 pts per 1$ then for 100$ you get 300 pts which is equivalent to 3$ meaning 3% cash back when you buy gas… and that too w/ annual fees 95$. I have PNC card that has 4% cash back for every penny at gas station. Also have Alliant card … flat 2.5% cashback for every penny. So good to choose your options… as lot cards are available in market. And my score is 780+ and has now 7 different cards.

So 80k in points translates to $800 in gift cards at the stores listed on Thank You?

I missed out on PS5 so far but I might do this to get $800 in Target or Best Buy gift cards to get a PS5 this fall, assuming they will finally be available to the mass public by then. If not, that's fine - $800 in gift cards at Target can go a long way for Christmas shopping.
But then you miss out on the 5% discount at Target for paying with your RedCard.

Just to verify, this is $800 worth of points, minus $95 annual fee, minus income tax on $800, right? So roughly $500 - $600 after fee and taxes?

I still think it's a good deal, just that the "$800" seems misleading if taken at face value.

Don't think there's income tax on a card bonus, unlike there is for a checking or savings account. Someone tell me if I'm wrong on that
