Picture show this having a pan filled with lump charcoal and wood being lit by a lighter. If that's the case…. all the electric part is really doing is help to regulate temperature? With the amount of charcoal and wood in that pan, once lit, the electric part wouldn't be doing much work. This is basically what I do with my dual fuel version and the the pan is more than enough to smoke for several hours.

I dont know why this is confusing people so much. There is no heating unit in this at all, it is not an electric smoker. Its a charcoal smoker that uses FANS to control the temp of the charcoal.

Thats why they call it a digital charcoal smoker instead of an electric smoker. Theres a pretty big difference. It is not at all like sticking a tube of wood in your oven like that other guy claimed, thats really stupid and far from true. It is a legit charcoal smoker that uses a controller and fans to regulate temps.

The heat source is charcoal and wood not electricity.

Thanks for clarifying! I wasn't actually looking at purchasing since I already have 3 smokers! I pop in these threads for the conversation as a smoking enthusiast.

In that case, this is a pretty solid deal. It is basically what I do with my $100 Masterbuilt dual fuel (charcoal and propane) and my HeaterMeter with auto fan/dampener.

Actually kinda intrigued by this now!!!
Must resist!!!

How well is it insulated??? Really tempted by this now… I could sell the other Masterbuilt for at least $50 probably.

Check your local Aldi, they have their Range Master Electric Smoker with window for $119.99.

The smoker comes with a 2-year warranty, serviced by the GHP Group. GHP makes the Dyna-Glo line of grills and smokers.

According to Aldi, the smoker measures 23.3″ x 20.8″ x 39.1″ and includes the following features:

505 square inches of cooking space
a side access wood chip loader
an enameled steel water bowl and wood chip box
three chrome-plated steel cooking grates
an insulated, double-wall firebox and door
a built-in temperature gauge with "Smoke Zone" indicator
a tempered glass window

Don't buy a cheap pellet grill. Most have bad temp swings.

All pellet grills have temp swings because that's how the smoke is generated. Trust me 10-20 degree swings won't ruin your cook. I set my pit boss to about 200 and I can stay in that 200-225 range for hours without touching it.

I think that is why he said "bad" temp swings? 200-225 would be a fine temp swing. 225-300 would be moving in the bad range. If you get above 275, it starts to impact the cook (imo). I've seen this type of swing on cheap smokers (my BIL has one).

Same with my pit boss, because it's a more expensive model with a PID controller. Not the same as the $150 home Depot off brand pellet grills, which swing wildly.

The pit boss I have is the Austin XL which as far as I know, like most pit boss grills, isn't a real PID. It controls the temps by varying the speed of the auger so pellets drop faster or slower based on the temp you set. It does not actually respond to temp changes like a real PID does. You would think a $500 grill would come with a real PID but it doesn't. I believe the new Lockhart for $800 has a real PID. Even the new "upgraded" wifi controller they now sell on their website isn't a true PID (confirmed by customer support)
