This light duty cord from Home Depot still uses heavier gauge wire than the one in this Anker product.

Thanks for checking!

I have no complaints with traditional power strips which incorporate USB outlets. I have an APC unit under my desk right now with 12 outlets and 2 USB ports and make use of them daily for charging phones.

My complaint is with this whole loophole category of USB charger with auxiliary power receptacles connected to undersized cords... and which typically dodge UL or incorporate it through shady means (I noticed in the picture that UL is stamped on the cord, which might make people think the entire product is UL listed).

Good luck!
Jon
Buy a UL listed grounded extension cord with three three-prong plugs and put an Anker USB charger in one of the outlets. That solution is far safer than these monstrosities.

I couldn't find an image in the reviews of the underside of the charging unit, but I'd wager it lacks the UL listing label included on the cord. The reason for this is that many of these knock off combination extension cord USB outlets use a UL rated cord, but skip getting UL rated for the rest of the device.

Good luck!
Jon

Been waiting on this. In for 1!

Awesome for cubicles. Easier to access AC plugs for random temporary needs, versus digging under the desk and behind a cabinet. 😄

This will be my 4th purchase of this exact Anker extension …It's amazing how This little accessory comes in handy in so many ways… Traveling ANYWHERE; parents, friends, while waiting in a terminal to travel and even got one for my side of the bed at my girls house, (for the tech junkie I am) I pretty much keep one in my AER EDC Bag; My gym bag,… From luggage to keeping one in the Jeep… So instead of just working with 4 now I will have 5… "yes"! USB ports only provide 12 watts combined. Wierd that a wall plug charges slower than most battery packs.

Was just thinking about buying something like this. Generally like anker products better than others (aukey....etc) as their cables tend to last longer than others and they have a no hassle warranty. In 4 1

Correct. No UL label on the one I'm using right now.
