The chips were designed with one purpose in mind... to prevent refilling.

Yup, it's been reported as a repost.
Haven't tried in a while - might be a newer driver....
This one, but it's now back to $120.
I am guessing that's why it was taken out of the original post.

Walmart.com
I stopped into my local store today and was going to take a look at printers to see what was available. I wandered into the clearance aisle and even though brickseek shows out of stock at my store, there it was for $70 on clearance (the $89 model). So it might be worth a look if you're already at the store anyway or have one nearby.
Setup was super simple other than entering wifi password on the keypad (not hard just tedious), took between 5-10 minutes to get everything up and running and I'm printing wirelessly with ease. Can't speak to longevity yet since it's been an hour, but it seems like a decent machine. Since I found it on clearance, I added the $7 2-year warranty just incase.
This printer uses TN850 toner (chip required).
And for the most part, you download an image file, write it to an SD card, and insert it into a Pi Zero. There's very little knowledge or time or effort to get it up and running. Plus you can add features like internet printing and more.

Hobbyist projects are not for everyone.
I'm not sure what you are saying by copying what the Brother site says. If you are using it to prove me right, you succeeded. Like I said, the printer in this deal does NOT use the TN660, but the commenters 2300 printer does. Are you disagreeing with me because you misread my comment? Or are you trying to agree with me?
