Nice to see prices coming down. I actually had the 5900x version and returned it. Just wasn't worth it for me. I took the 3080 out and put it in my own system. Unfortunately I didn't see much performance gain in the couple of games I tested. Those being Destiny 2 and Warzone. I actually had better performance with my 2070 super in Warzone somehow. I also noticed that the 3080 pushed out a TON of heat from my PC. The card itself was not hot, but it exhausted hot air that heated my entire room.

Yeah, 3080's run hot. This is nothing new.

This is a good deal, I'm in for one. 11th gen intel is better for gaming then AMD Ryzen per benchmarks, although GPU is going to be the limiting factor in modern games. Going to have to upgrade the fans on this one though or you will be thermally throttled.

You've got something majorly wrong if a 3080 isn't destroying a 2070. Either your card is defective or you've got some massive problems with cooling in your computer. The 3080 should be getting almost double the FPS your 2070 does in Warzone. At a bare minimum I'd expect to see 150% of the performance.

150% wow what benchmark are you seeing that jump lol I already get around 110fps or so with my graphics settings on my 2070 Super. I looked at some vids and was seeing an average increase of 50fps in most games at 1440p when comparing a 3080 and a 2070 Super. I have a Corsair 4000D Airflow case with a Kraken x62 for my R9 3900x. Just giving you my personal experience with it

3080 improvement is seen more in 2k and 4k gaming vs. 1080p, Most of my clients use 3080 on i7-10700K(F) or i9-10900K(F) for 3440x1440 Ultrawide gaming and 3090 for 4k. I'm a custom system builder who was almost 100% AMD an dthen a few years ago went 100% Intel. We recently started building Ryzens again and once we go thru our inventory of 5600X's and above we won't be back. We see many more compatibility issues with AMD. Not broke just very finicky about memory, boards, etc. Might be fine for a DIY person who wants to mess around but as the store that has to handle every minor issue on our builds, it's not worth it.

AMD has been that way for decades and it's the reason we stay away in corporate builds
Still seems a little high in price (I'd expect a configuration like this to be $1500-1600, even allowing for tariffs, SI margin, etc). At least they're staying in stock these days. Next step is to see the stand alone cards sitting on store shelves again, then we'll truly be out of the woods.

Dude, either your CPU or lack of RAM is bottlenecking, or you had a defective 3080. My Evga 3070 on 1440p and DLSS is getting over 160fps in COD:MW multiplayer.

Yea I guess a 3900x and 32 gigs of 3200mhz isn't enough these days. It's fine though Warzone is trash regardless but that's another conversation

I really want to pull the trigger but after aoi and new case and more ram, I'm at $2300. Too much cash.
Problem is, $1050 for 3080, $400 for CPU, PS, Case, ram mobo, that all adds up to over $2000 so it is a deal in that sense. Think i'll wait a little longer to see how things work out.
