YMMV CAT LED Rechargeable Work Light $11.97

This is a great work light with magnetic base.
Includes charging cord.
**You will need to supply USB wall wart** to complete charging though.
Most people will already have a few of these sitting in a drawer.

I already had one of these flash lights and have been impressed with light output and low profile.
Since it was frequently used when working on car (benefit of magnetic base) it has become dirty and no longer allowed in the house.
Purchased 2 more today in zip 28216 (for reference).

Is this better than Braun HF light that sells at $30?

This does not have a adjustable head which limits its usefulness, especially when using the magnetic base.

Maybe it was my store, but I went down nearly every aisle and found work lights scattered everywhere. I even asked for help and was directed to an assortment of flashlights. I finally found the these next to the extension cords in electrical. Good luck!

But there's also no hinge to break.

If they removed the LED strip there would be no lamp to go bad. I could go on but you get the gist. If a product is well made then the hinge should last.

That's a very good point. I got one of those supposedly higher end "Braun" lights from Harbor Freight that developed a loose connection shortly after the 90-day warranty expired.

I don't accept that Braun is a higher end brand. The product pricing and warranty does not suggest that. You bought a plastic tool from HF and it didn't last long. EEK! Nothing new there.

In general I think it's a bad idea to go cheap on tools that you want to keep and use for many projects. Rather than buy three crappy work lights that either don't last or are somehow lacking in functionality, discipline yourself to take the initial hit and buy better a better light that will do what you want and keep doing it, AND save money in long run. I need to keep repeating this to myself because I am the biggest garbage addict I know. I was immediately attracted to this thread and now I have to try recalling my 12 steps program. Smilie

And BTW, just look at one of the product pictures of this lamp. The guy is patching the wall with one hand, holding the torch with the other, and maybe even doing all this balanced at the top of a stepladder. That's just all wrong! A good headlamp would be a better choice.

I think it's more comparable to the $5 braun stick light, that thing is awesome for the price.

Braun isn't high end for sure, but at the time when that rotating head led light came out, it was the best you can get at the $20 sale price. You'd need to jump to $40 or $60 to get the next available product from a competitor. Braun's light was so good Home Depot came out with an obvious clone under their Husky house brand about a year or two later (I have both lights). And now there's clones of both lights on Amazon, 2 pack for $20 last time I noticed.

I agree you shouldn't go cheap on tools that you depend on, but as a typical homeowner alot of these HF tools are good enough for me since I might only use them a handful of times a year. I used to be a Craftsman guy then at some point realized HF's hand tools were coming from the same chinese/taiwanese factories and and also have a lifetime warranty, now nearly all the name brand homeowner grade hand tools are sourced from the same factories. Doesn't mean I'll blindly buy HF for it's cheapness either, I check youtube reviews and compare prices to national brands. Oh and power tools I stick to name brands especially since sales prices are near identical between them.

I've owned this light for a few years now in the automotive world and I can say without a doubt it's a beast. I've crushed it, dropped it in many different fluids and it's currently held together with zip ties and hot glue but the damn thing still holds a charge and is nice and bright.

That is hardly a ringing endorsement. Smilie You could rephrase that as "it has been falling apart but it still works".

I don't want to be too hard on a $12 lamp but it's up against others like: https://www.amazon.com/Flashlight...B08LCZK4TZ
