I bought one in December of 2020 because the open box was $86 at best buy, but to be honest for a non-artist there is no noticable difference in use than my wife's $30 Amazon third-party one. The only advantage this has to me is the ability to double-tap to change brushes natively and on-device charging, which is a double-edge sword as it does draw battery from the iPad while charging.

Meanwhile the third-party one can be charged separately, turned off manually, usable on all current ipads not just the air & pro models, and seems to have better battery life while offering the same feel and speed/accuracy aside from lacking pressure sensitivity.

FYI, the 3rd Gen Apple pencil is rumored to be coming out this year if that helps in anyone's decision making process. No functionality details yet. Otherwise this is a good price if you want the 2nd Gen which has pressure sensitivity over the great value knockoff which doesn't.
