Anyone have personal experience with this phone that can speak to memory management and whether the 4 gigabytes of RAM cuts it? I'd be moving from a significantly slower processor but 4 gigs of RAM seems pretty light for this day and age.
I use both a Galaxy Note 9 and a Pixel 3a. The Note 9 is the 512 gig variant that has 8 gigs, while the 3a has 4 gigs. Since the Note 9 is an older vintage phone, we can reasonably compare memory here and disregard the SOCs somewhat (I dont know any midrange phones with 8 gigs...) Also bear in mind that the Pixel 3 has a flagship SOC (SD845), not a midranger like the aforementioned 3a, or even the 4a or even the 4 5G!
With copious usage of youtube (50 hrs/week), regular google apps (waze, gmail, calendar, voice), firefox, IoT monitoring stuff, banking apps, there is NO DIFFERENCE in usability between the two phones above. No stuttering, no lag in opening and closing apps, zip. Mind you, I dont play games on the phone...that may be the deal-breaker.
The phone will physically fall to bits before the 4 gigs curtails your usage. Pixels are just really good at making use of mid-range hardware.
HOWEVER...the 64 gigs is a major issue. Pixels excel at photos...and youll want that storage.

Would this be a lateral move from my Galaxy s9plus ?
That's a tough one. I use a S9+ as my daily driver and just picked up a Pixel 2XL to back it up. I'd take the S9+ over the 2XL any day of the week but not sure how much better the Pixel 3XL is. The one thing that drives me crazy is that the 2XL's speakers are terrible compared to the S9+. I spend my life on speakerphone voice calls.
Stay away from the 3XL, I've had 2 brand new 3XL fail exactly the same, stops charging with Google charger. Eventually stops charging at all. First phone had the issue 1-2 months after warranty. 2nd phone has the issue 11 months from when opened. Also had a 3, camera went to shit, none-stop shaking. There's a class action lawsuit in the works.
Dailysteals has a horrible reputation especially with electronics. Do your research on this company. Check SellerRatings.com and the BBB. No way is hell these phones are a safe buy.
I only bought from them once, their CS is not so nice, I asked about returning a pixel 3 which I paid $155, and I saw B&H on sale for $130, I know I would pay return shipping, at that time, their website was down for checking return charges, so I emailed them, first, they said they will charge restocking fee, but when I asked how much for restocking fee, they didn't reply, and waited for one day to reply and said would not charge restocking fee, by that time B&H deal was over, I won't deal with them again.

That's why you still get unlimited uncompressed free photo/video storage for the next 6 months with the Pixel 3
And then unlimited compressed "Storage Saver" from thereafter
One of the best features to buy this phone for IMO
Lmao 🤣😆. LG sucked. That's why they got out of the mobile phone game
