I know that it's just a cheap Chromebook, but I do hate the idea of having a 12" screen and then a massive 1.5" bezel around the whole thing. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a 12" screen.
Looks like the video is Indonesian, but hey there is still "Indian" in it, with "ones" in-between. Almost there. Wish it had subtitles. Big Grin

https://www.androidpolice.com/201...e-support/ Article is over 1.5 years old, but shows Acer 512 guaranteed updates till June 2026.

Edit: Oooh! Downvote. Someone is upset. Wink At least I was nice about it pointing the issue.

HAHA... This is Chrome OS. This isn't an android tablet with a LAPTOP build or using Windows 11. You are confused. Why would you prefer to lift up your arm and move it around a chromebook laptop over the touchpad or using a mouse? MORE WORK unless you prefer to do it the hard way...... Android tablet is completely different than a chrome OS LAPTOP! How do you hold a tablet? How do you hold a laptop? Difference in weight too. Did you think this was a chrome tablet? I have a Lenovo Chromebook Duet.... I only use the touchscreen when I am in tablet mode and disconnected the keyboard. When I am connected to the keyboard (horizontal), I use the keyboard and touchpad because it is common sense and works the best. It is foolish to have a keyboard and touchpad connected and me swiping with my finger on the screen. I am sure there will be some people or you prefer typing on the screen when they have a physical keyboard that works more effective..... Mouse > touchpad > finger on screen when it comes to chromebook laptops.

Why would anyone prefer to lift their arm up and move it around a laptop at a desk when there is a more effective touchpad or maybe my favorite and most effective option the mouse with scrolling wheel? Duh.

*** "Windows 11 is also designed for touch screens".... Not that well though. Windows 11 touchscreen isn't anywhere close as a good as touchscreen android. Yes. I have a touchscreen windows laptop and while it has improved, it isn't quite as polished as android touchscreen. That is why I prefer the keyboard with touchpad or mouse with Windows. Windows is the best of the bunch with the keyboard/mouse and the worst of the bunch with touchscreen.

it's 12 inches... and not 1366 x 768 normal 720p specs, but 1366 x 912 and IPS. it's probably a very nice screen at this size.

What is the deal with the power adaptor/brick? I assume I can just use a USB C cord into a phone charger as a replacement (even if it wouldn't charge as fast)??

You can, I do it all the time. Of course charging speeds will vary depending on output.

Yeah, I never even take usb-c chargers out of the box anymore since my chargers are already setup around the house and car.

I agree with ya. Chromebook touchpads do everything and I'm to lazy to reach up to the screenSmilie I don't play games so I really have no need for a touchscreen. I actually have a few Chromebooks with touchscreens and never use the feature.

Does this come with 100GB of Google Drive cloud storage? How can you tell? I don't see this referenced anywhere in the description.

Android apps run natively on chromeOS and the play store is prominently featured, many use their computers differently than you. Pump the brakes on all that dogma, the market for touch screens is there for a reason- even if your opinion disagrees.

This. At work we have a chromebook with a touchscreen running a couple Android app. We are moving around in a manufacturing facility, not seated at a desk and it is easier when moving around and doing other things to reach 6 inches and press something on the app than to reach for the touchpad, scroll, and click. The keyboard is needed for data entry used throughout the day that would be cumbersome using built in keyboard if it were a tablet.

You completely missed the point. Of course there is a reason for touchscreens. I have the Lenovo Chromebook Duet that is a 2 in 1 (laptop and tablet). I took off the keyboard and I am using the touchscreen now..... This Chromebook doesn't have that removable keyboard. The keyboard is permanently attached. Whenever I am using my pc laptop with its touchscreen or the Lenovo Duet with its keyboard in landscape, it is far more effective to USE the keyboard. Faster typing, more control, less work moving my finger, etc.... I have a PC laptop (2 in 1) with a touchscreen, Samsung Galaxy s6 lite with Dex (also tried with regular Android with Logitech Bluetooth keyboard), Lenovo Chromebook duet and iPad with Logitech Bluetooth keyboard. Unless you have a detachable keyboard and can use it as a tablet, touchscreen isn't necessary especially for $129 deal.

I have an old Chromebook that is technically no longer supported but it still has the newest version of Chrome OS. It's an Acer from 2014 that still manages to get onto the web for basic things. It's probably the same size as this one. For kids, this is probably fine since most schools utilize browser-based applications, aside from students who are learning CAD.

Quick info regarding Chrome OS: the future of Chrome OS is positive IMHO. For tech nerds such as myself, Google's use of its Tensor SOC, which will be in new Pixel 6/6 Pro phones, means Google is trying to create a more cohesive Android/Chrome OS ecosystem like Apple. This means Google might put out its own Chromebook and/or tablet with custom silicon similar to Apple's M1 chip. Chrome OS itself might "merge" with Android with the advancement of Fuschia, which would make Google much more seamless in app development. With that being said, cheap Chromebooks are probably not as future-proof as they once were, even with 5 years of OS updates and native Android app support.

I was ready to buy this to replace my 2013 model but it has no Pg Up/Pg Dn/Home/End/Ins/Del keys.

Just a heads up to anyone else who values these as much as I do. (I use mine to remotely connect to my work computer and use these a lot in excel, etc. )
