M18 FUEL Gen-2 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Mid Torque 1/2 in. Impact Wrench w/Friction Ring (Tool-Only)

The Hack
The hack is simple. You buy a promo deal which you get a free tool or battery. There are different ways to do the hack. Pick up at the store, online, or a combination of both. You keep one of the items and the other item is subtracted automatically (if you did not pick it up) or return the item.

The Hack Example:
The M18 ($219) is the key to the hack. It is a promotional item. You have to select that in your cart. The battery ($139) is a free item. It shows you in the cart with the return value based on the zip code of the Home Depot (zip code example 43065) you select.

$133.97 + $85.03 = $219 plus your state sales tax. If you received it in the mail return the item to Home Depot and they will subtract the one you didn't want. If you didn't pick it up Home Depot will subtract the item after a certain time (they will let you know in the email). That is the Hack. Tool Boss on YouTube Channel can explain it better. I cannot provide the link due to the Slick Deals policy.

That not the grinder for the hack. The 2880-20 is the grinder for the hack.

Thanks. I discovered which tools qualified for the hack not long after I posted, by seeing a pic of the in-store promo display.
I really wanted the 2981-20, but with this 'unique' price on the 2880-20 I just may go for it.

Thank you, great finding. Added the tool for shipping and the battery for local pickup. The wench comes up as $133, the best price ever for this tool.

But I need to return Makita kit I got 92 days ago which is the excellent deal also (mid-range 450 ftb, a charger, two 4A battery, a bag for $190), not sure if HD accept my return though, since it passes 90 day return window.

You missed out on the Makita X-Lock deal. I am SMH because I didn't get it. The paddle switch was $97 bucks after the hack.

For me, using one of the zipcodes works to lower the price, but only if you keep store pickup. Changing it to ship to home makes the price go back up

Crazy good deal. Milwaukee's FUEL line is one of the best around for power tools, even if it's made in China. Their batteries are also really well made. Next step up would be Snap-on or Mac.

On the Home Depot website home page, make the store with the better price your main store

Ok so I'm stupid. I added the battery and the tool to my local store and it shows 219. 85 for the battery and 133 for the tool. But it says the tool comes with a free battery. So is that a free battery AND the cheap battery? Or is it counting the cheap battery as the free battery? All I have right now is the M18 power head with edger and trimmer with 8ah battery so I'm thinking 219 is pretty good for an impact and another battery. Is the 5ah battery the one YouTubers are saying to avoid though?

Also, is there a risk of this mid tq busting car lugs in half or not?

Thanks in advance.

I was gonna ask how good is the deal if keeping the battery as opposed to the tool itself.

The rule of thumb for a M18 Milwaukee batteries is about $10 per AH (5.0AH = $50) so the battery at $85 or so isn't a great deal by that benchmark.

Don't put "Hack" in subject....you do realize they probably check SD now for this type of stuff. I know if I was a retailer I would have someone with alerts on my store nanem.

Does anyone know if there's every been a hackable 2981 grinder deal? Really like the idea of getting bigger discs (6" vs 5"), more RPM (9k vs 8.5k) and a slide lock vs a paddle switch.

I can find way more uses in my DIY world for a M18 grinder vs the 1/2" torque wrench.
