The Hack
The hack is simple. You buy a promo deal which you get a free tool or battery. There are different ways to do the hack. Pick up at the store, online, or a combination of both. You keep one of the items and the other item is subtracted automatically (if you did not pick it up) or return the item.
The Hack Example:
The M18 ($219) is the key to the hack. It is a promotional item. You have to select that in your cart. The battery ($139) is a free item. It shows you in the cart with the return value based on the zip code of the Home Depot (zip code example 43065) you select.
$133.97 + $85.03 = $219 plus your state sales tax. If you received it in the mail return the item to Home Depot and they will subtract the one you didn't want. If you didn't pick it up Home Depot will subtract the item after a certain time (they will let you know in the email). That is the Hack. Tool Boss on YouTube Channel can explain it better. I cannot provide the link due to the Slick Deals policy.

It just shows the promo runs from Aug 2 to Nov 1, 2021.
Since I have this exact same impact already, I tried with a M18 grinder I need (2981-20), but that combo showed no discount on either battery or grinder.

I really wanted the 2981-20, but with this 'unique' price on the 2880-20 I just may go for it.
But I need to return Makita kit I got 92 days ago which is the excellent deal also (mid-range 450 ftb, a charger, two 4A battery, a bag for $190), not sure if HD accept my return though, since it passes 90 day return window.

You missed out on the Makita X-Lock deal. I am SMH because I didn't get it. The paddle switch was $97 bucks after the hack.

Also, is there a risk of this mid tq busting car lugs in half or not?
Thanks in advance.
I was gonna ask how good is the deal if keeping the battery as opposed to the tool itself.

The rule of thumb for a M18 Milwaukee batteries is about $10 per AH (5.0AH = $50) so the battery at $85 or so isn't a great deal by that benchmark.
Thanks for the reference

I can find way more uses in my DIY world for a M18 grinder vs the 1/2" torque wrench.
