What exactly is in this kit? A smart fixture with dumb LED bulbs or a dumb fixture with smart LED bulbs? I did a little research, but couldn't find a definitive answer. Most info suggests it is a dumb fixture with 2 Philips Hue outdoor floodlight LED bulbs.
The latter.
FYI I've purchased these before and at the very least the flared bell/bulb housing parts are plastic. Can't tell really once they are hung, but I was surprised when I pulled them out of the box.
The security lights system that does not come with a motion sensor.

I suspect the appeal may be that it allows you to extend the range of your Hue system for outdoors? Unless that's a function of all Hue flood bulbs or Hue devices in general, I am not sure. But the main description says the first flood light has to be within 30 feet, but then any others can be up to 60 feet away from the first. So my guess would be this would appeal to someone setting up a few of these around a larger property. Again, not entirely sure if the repeater functionality is part of all Hue devices. The only Hue stuff I have currently are the Hue Play lights.
You would have to have the Hue Bridge ($60) and Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor ($60) for this to have any utility alone. If you're already deep in the Hue ecosystem I could see how it could fit in (Lily spotlights, Hue Calla pathway lights, Hue outdoor lightstrip, etc).
I was looking at replacing my RAD lighting fixture with Hue but there's two major drawbacks:
A) Most LED lights don't like be turned off an on rapidly.
B) The motion sensor requires a freakin battery? What could possibly go wrong?
