When vinegar and baking soda are combined they create carbonic acid which is a common ingredient in cleaning products. So there is that... Neutralization doesn't mean the solution doesn't do anything, it just means there is no excess of hydrogen or hydroxide ions present in the solution.
I used affresh before with zero issues.

Why not just toss regular oxyclean in the drum? Someone asked this in the Q&A in the Amazon page and the manufacturer gave a total non-answer. If they're was a real difference, you know they'd be able to articulate it.

Vinegar and baking soda is probably the biggest scam. From a chemical standpoint they actually neutralize each other lmao. It's the same reason manufacturers still put sodium luareth sulfate into toothpaste. Gives the perception of cleaning due to the fizzzzz

Carbonic acid may be a by product, but no one is advertising carbonic acid in their cleaning solution. Furthermore, carbonic acid is unstable and quickly converts. The actual amount of usable carbonic acid that reacts and "works" is insignificant.

The carbonic acid immediately turns to carbon dioxide and water after mixing. That's why you get the foamy bubbles. It hardly sticks around long enough to do any cleaning. What's left over in solution is sodium acetate, an inert salty water that does nothing to clean.
