This NOT intended to be a hunting bow. This is a youth target shooting bow that is used as part of the NASP program in schools around the country.
It is a great bow for kids and adults to learn on. Chances are, if you go take a beginner archery class, this is what you will be shooting with.
They are also pretty easy to maintain and get parts for if needed.
Not sure why this was being downvoted.
This is THE bow to learn with, and definitely the best price currently available as far as I can tell.
is there enough time for me to get this and train for 2024 olympics

10-20 lb draw weight is pretty weak. Adult bows are anywhere from 40-80lbs as a reference. I think hunting requires a min of about 40lbs, but I could be a little off with that.

Many people have pointed out that this is a NASP competition bow, and not intended for hunting. In most states, 40lb is the minimum draw weight for hunting.
Any recommendations for inexpensive backyard targets for residential use (half acre back yard)?
If you've got this bow, you can use light duty targets, or even diy one.
I've got a Morrell bag that weighs about 30 pounds. I got it on sale, not sure where, but it was less than $40 at the time. It's been outside for the better part of a month, here in California, and it's just fine. I have a second one, and I'm not sure if I'll ever get to using it if all I shoot are field points.
We have a Bear Scout and a Genesis. They are night and day apart. If you have a child who wants to shoot archery on a school team that is part of NASP, this is the ONLY bow that is allowed for NASP competitions. Great price.
The one I was referring to is the bear apprentice, your post pushed me into checking on the name. It looks quite a bit different than the scout (which looks like a toy).
As for nasp, I've never been to that type of competition, but if the genesis is the ONLY bow that is allowed, well then there you have it, you have no choice and it's what you have to use.
The reason why this is popular is that this is the only bow allowed in National Archery in Schools Program (NASP). It allows for all student athletes to compete on a level playing field in NASP archery. It's a good deal.
Ah, thanks for that info! Someone else mentioned it, and this makes it much more clear why some of my comments are striking the nerves of some people.
If it's for your school child to use AT school events, definitely go for it. Archery is a fun and challenging skill. I never grew up in an area where there was archery in school, and only got into it in my adult life.
All of my comments don't take into consideration NASP, so if you MUST use this bow and can't use any other bow, ignore all of my comments. If you're looking to get into archery decide between this one and another youth bow if you're youth, or a different bow with larger weight limit if you're an adult, because 20 pounds as max limit is pretty light. For reference, most male adults are considered to be capable of learning on a 40 pound bow, though I'd suggest learning the technique at 20-30 pounds.
