The main downside to QLC NAND for most people is longevity, or write endurance. But the TBW for most QLC drives would still allow completely filling the drive with all new data every other week for 10 years before you start losing functionality. If I would guess, the average heavily used consumer drive is in service maybe half that time period before being replaced, and does not write even close to that much data.

As a backup, that's fine, but you'll want to connect it to something every year or two to keep the data from getting corrupted. Also, an enclosure is unnecessary just get a SATA to USB3 cable [amazon.com]

Since I only typically checkout NVMe media I'm not up on what a good price is for qlc sata drives, so didn't know if this was an especially hot deal. My ancient 120GB backup ssd is getting fairly full so considering a larger drive as an additional backup for my NAS.
