I think I'd still rather pay 50 bucks more for new at Costco but not bad deal.

Shockingly the 8GB M1's crush everything I throw at it. I have a dozen tabs open, Xcode with large projects and simulators running, and the fan has yet to kick in. All driving 2- 32" 4K monitors.

On the flip side my 2019 i7 32GB 16"MBP is a house fire waiting to happen.

Because, they explicitly told me. Apple products don't get doubled warranty from Costco, and then the city card doesn't add the extra years to make 4-5 like other electronics.

They told me 1/1
I would call Costco's national customer service and find out for sure. I wouldn't trust a store sales person to be always right.

FWIW, I have a "Late 2011" Mac Mini (Intel) that I upgraded the ram on and put an SSD in. This weekend I was able to put Catalina on it and the thing still flies! I only mention this because the Mac Mini isn't just a web surfer as some are claiming. It'd be nice to upgrade to the M1 chip, but something to think about for those more adventurous. The older mac minis can be found for pretty cheap!

You must be building all your computers and mobile phones from parts. Did you build your tv too?

This Mac mini m1 will last easily 5 years.
Even the latest intel gen desktop costs more than $550 for same performance.
I agree with this. I am an app developer and still using my Mac Mini (Late 2014) with 8GB RAM. Runs latest MacOS and XCode.

Only thing I did recently was replaced the HDD with a $50 SSD from microcenter. But, now everything comes with SSD. So, I would not hesitate to buy this. I believe you get every penny's worth. They are very very quiet too. My 2020 macbook (Intel) makes more noise when building apps than my Mac Mini.

This is totally wrong. I've warrantied my iMac and Macbook before through Costco on year 2 and year 4 (on top of AppleCare) easily.

Nothing wrong with calling Costco to confirm that the extended warranty applies to Apple products. Especially if a sales associate said the opposite.

The bluetooth issues with the Mac Mini aren't specific to the M1. The 2018 model (Intel) also had bluetooth issues. Seems to have been a design issue rather than specific to the CPU architecture platform.

Dude that isn't even an m1 Mac you linked to. You are tripping the 8gb Mac mini is the best bang for buck around and stays cool the entire time.

No. But it does have free built-in Planned Obsolescence!

This is a Mac for the Unknowing Masses or those who don't do much more than Internet surf, watch YouTube, make amateur videos to send to grandma and use office suites. There are many on Reddit forums kicking themselves for buying one and not paying the extra for a 16GB.

For anything needing lots of performance power or folks who like or need to have several apps open at once, the 8GB is a huge choke point.
Actually that is incorrect. Do some search on YouTube for tests, 8gb gigabyte works fine for the vast majority of people. You would only need more if you're manipulating some large video or photo files.
