Or the 6 mini MAY NOT be coming. Even if it does, that's more $ to dispose which guarantee no Slickdeals for months to come.

Having owned a prior gen ipad mini 2 and a ipad air 2 I just personally found that the weight and portability was much better for my usecase of couch browsing and facetime.

Mini 5 has been discounted this low on/off for past 9-10 months. At this point, I'd highly recommend waiting to see what Apple releases in 3 wks at their usual Sept press conference, or possibly in 7 wks in an Oct press release. If you need it right away for school, then so be it, but you're buying a tablet that will be outdated much sooner with a much older A12 processor from 2018.
The rumor is Mini 6 will be 8.3" with its first redesign ever, similar to the Air 4 with USB-C port and Touch ID on the power button (which allows for the bigger screen due to smaller bezels in same footprint) and A14 or A15 processor.

For 1 the 10.2 has a non laminated display, slightly cheaper build quality and a camera that's a lil worse plus it's half the storage. 32GB is gone once you load a few apps, especially since iPad apps are a lil larger file size then iPhone equivalent.

Higher storage capacity, better display (laminated, antireflective and higher PPI), True Tone, better front facing camera (7MP on the Mini 5 vs 1.2MP for the iPad 8th gen), more comfortable form factor.

For anyone who is on the edge about this and has never owned a an iPad Mini, just get it. I absolutely love this form factor, and if you plan on primarily using your iPad as a handheld device it makes full sized iPads seem cumbersome and heavy. IF a new Mini comes out in the fall it'll be awhile before it can be purchased at a significant discount, and you can enjoy this awesome device in the meantime and sell at a minimal loss when you're ready to upgrade (or return it if you hate it, but you won't).

Yeah I just checked again on slick deals, The last time it was posted at 400 for the cellular was November of last year, (The Wi-Fi model was also at the 300 price at that time last year) I haven't seen any bouncing of prices down to that level.
