I know people hate it when someone suggests separate speakers with AVR setup, for the actual 5.1 setup. But whoever getting this, hope they know what they're getting into. Don't buy this for 5.1 reason alone, because no matter whatever the magic they do, this won't give you an actual 5.1.
So if you don't want to deal with the "wires and chaos" of an AVR setup, I would recommend to get a 2.1 (or 3.1) sound bar. It's going to be same as this 5.1.

Shouldnt Atmos be 5.1.4? The surrounds don't have height channels?
Atmos only requires height information, it doesn't specify a minimum of 4 heights or anything like that.
EDIT: Also, having speakers actually in the ceiling is way more effective than speakers on the F or R relying on reflection... eg a 5.1.2 with the 2 speakers actually installed in the ceiling will kick the ass of a 7.1.4 system with the .4 being reflective speakers that have A LOT of dependencies in order to even get close to the effect of actual ceiling installed speakers.
It has no rear speakers, how is it a 5.1.2 system?
It's called 'marketing'. I've even seen cell phones and laptops advertised as 'Atmos'. And you will pay extra for it, because Dolby is getting paid everytime one of their labels is being used.

Yup, marketing... and the ability to decode an atmos/object based digital audio track, even if coming out of a couple of tiny cell phone speakers makes the result sound NOTHING like what it would in a proper Atmos implementation.
Do NOT Buy this piece of junk. Forces you to register with Google assist, and is constantly listening to you forever without any ability to turn off monitoring.
seriously? what if i don't even want to use voice enabled features?

Google Fiber is my ISP, so I am already screwed lol.
I have this exact system with the 2 Satellite speakers connected to my LG OLED CX65. It sounds amazing and would highly recommend.
One quick note though the sound bar itself is huge. It has to be to have so many speakers in it. Also remember this has upward firing speakers so you have to place it somewhere open for the Atmos effect to work.
Right here. I jumped IMMEDIATELY https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...es/biggrin.gif. After researching the SN9YG, and figuring I would pay $100-$200 on the rears to add to this deal making it $550-$650, spending the extra $150 to get the TOTL LG bar that hopefully meshes well with my CX TV, which includes bigger/better bar (56" vs. 48", where more separation for fronts, surrounds, and ceiling/atmos speakers is a good thing) with more/better output and more HDMI inputs, and getting the rears with atmos speakers on top (which the rears you get for the other bars don't have) to get it to 7.1.4 to get you the best that LG has to offer for less than half of the $1500 MSRP (that it actually sold at for a good while), to me was a no brainer.
Other than the WhatTheHiFi review, it is a very well reviewed sound bar. I am a guy that has never had a sound bar vs. being a HT-o-phile and 2ch guy with things like Veritas 2.8, Aragon BB amps, etc., so I am really looking forward to see how far along they have come from the first crap cheap sound bars I tried like 10 years ago https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...es/biggrin.gif. I guess the Samsung TOTL is better, but oh well, $800 is already higher than I wanted to pay for a bar to try this stuff out, but for this deal, worth stretching a bit to me.
Anyone know if this can be "grouped" in google home. Would like to find something that i can say "hey Google play...on speakers and all the speakers play the same thing.
FYI... Took a few weeks, but I was able to get the rear speakers "open box" by monitoring the BB website... as good as a fully wired systems with "real" speakers? No. But it meets my needs. If only BB was matching this (at which point they drop their open box prices by comparable amt)

Of course I had to download the user manual to find any of that. Which is your first clue that they don't want you to know the crap specs.
