8cr13mov is a cheap steel. I don't care how Cold Steel cuts it, one is paying for mall ninja brand name recognition.

I like CS's triad lock and some of their $100+ designs, but if you are goingcheap Chinese steel, mine as well go Buck, Spyderco, Ontario, or Kershaw at this price point.

Some very strange proponents of 8cr13mov in here. And several recent Cold Steel knife posts recently. It's sad that we have to be so cautious of Slickdeals promoted deals these days.

This blade is a 8Cr13MoV per the page description. Kind of the pricey side for a cheap steel metal.

That's a pretty good price on a big, rugged Cold Steel knife. 8Cr14MoV is perfectly good budget stainless steel at this price, and at 57-58 HRC it should hold an edge okay while not being too brittle for a little hard use. Definitely not an EDC, but a small pocket sword. Know your local knife laws.

Thanks for the knife post OP!

This does look like a good price, and I do like Cold Steel blades - but I'm a little surprised that a few years into production, some of the most recent customer reviews seem to indicate CS still has not corrected the design/production flaw in this knife that renders it unreasonably unsafe as an EDC option.

I might have to pass, but thanks for the post OP.

I think I've read that Cold Steel does a really nice job on their heat treatments and you can expect better results out of 8Cr14MoV as compared to you typical budget Kershaws or gas station blades.

The medium is $25.49 for a 90 day average price of around $30

That's not even close to pricey for 8Cr13MoV. Try looking at the Spyderco knives in that steel.

I saw the first comment (video) in the product page, the knife easily gets folded… even if it is open & locked.

I have one of these. Good for bigger hands. Nothing super special other than the blade length. Easy to open, easy to close....

Have to pass on this. Too many negative reviews on safety issues with this knife. I don't need a trip to the ER for stiches. Still waiting for as espada deal.

This knife had a problem with the tip of the blade not sitting inside the handle when it was closed and they never fixed it. Six inches is a nono just about everywhere. Check your local and state laws. https://www.akti.org/state-knife-laws/

The blade length on this could get you in trouble if you carry it concealed in some jurisdictions.
