The 10600k is the best bang for the buck if you can find a reasonably priced moto. I bought the KA and 590UD mobo for $280 on new egg a while back.

After building, upgrading almost every year or 2 I just realize that I dont need to spend money to upgrade only to find out I dont even use all the power and features. I still have my Core i3-9400 pair with gtx 1060 and it still runs most game at max settings for me. Saved so much money since then so I advice those in same situation as me to just buy what you need, maybe a few year

Best bang for the buck is i9 10850K for $299 at MC.

I9 is 2 generation old, and very soon will be 3 gen old. You might want to think about it.

also, microcenter has 10600k for $190 if your area has MC store nearby.

this is still a good deal considering, this proc has a higher base clock at 4.1ghz and can OC up to 4.8/4.9 on turbo single core which is an ideal cpu for games.
Why not order Amazon and save 8 to 10 bucks

I'm still using my 4970K system and it would do me another decade if it wasn't for the TPM requirement coming down the pipe.
Agree, and also the 8th gen. or newer Intel CPU requirements. Mad

you can PM at MC though plus, you can purchase a protection plan if you choose to replace the cpu with a newer gen in the future.

Makes sense, though the latter is a bit sketchy depending on morals lol

They are very good CPUs for the price (except perhaps to Amdie Bros).

The problem with12th Gen is requiring new 600 series motherboards that will make the CPU/MB combination too expensive for a while.

If building a new system, these with the expected steep drop in LGA 1200 MBs soon will be the sweet spot for many years before the next gen CPUs and Motherboards (With DDR5 and PCIe 4) become must haves rather than nice to have at the moment.

For people who are looking for a good value than the latest and greatest.
This price is not for the good value people. You are paying high end prices and already putting yourself 2 generations back.

Not much difference between these generations. Cheapest one is a better deal.

If the generations actually meant some watershed technology improvements, then such statements make more sense. If there is, you will have to wait a long time for prices to come down.

I still have Sandybridge i7s working great for so many things.

These are just talking point statements. What high end prices? Why would generations matter when there is so little difference between them?

Discussions based on valid points are more useful than talking points like "no hdmi". What is your comp for low end prices?

If that's the case then maybe you should skip this sale and purchase even older gen CPU. You will find slicker deal saving you even more money. Lol

These are generally competitive with the 5800X and 5600X, maybe a hair behind in raw performance but a more reliable platform.

I don't think you know what you are talking about this is a CPU. you should be looking for HDMI on your graphics card or motherboard, not in CPU. And yes generational gap matters no matter the size of difference. If everyone thought like you we would still be living like a ape.

In fact, a lot of people building DIY NAS do look for older generation CPUs as better values, so your statement isn't as smart as you think it is. Smilie

Ideal is to buy the best deal for what satisfies the requirement. Also which motherboard you have, or what is available at a good price also contributes to the selection not just which generation CPU.

2 or 3 generations old is as meaningless as "no hdmi kills the deal" from trolls. Intel CPU threads certainly draw a lot of trolls for some reason. Smilie

There are some really dumb consumers for a deal site, I have to say.

Just because women keep telling you that doesn't mean it applies to CPUs. laugh out loud
