If you plan on using this for 4k 120 on PC or consoles you should not buy. Sony halves the resolution and rebuilds the image and it looks terrible. Costco refunded me after 9 months because Sony continues to break the TV with every firmware release. There are nearly 1300 pages about this TV on the AVS forums and all of its problems. That said, for TV and movies jt was great.

As good as it is, according to rtings, it lacks local dimming, which makes it worse for watching hd content comparing to 90j.

I came in to post this same thing. No way on earth you should consider this. I just helped my friend pick out a Vizio p series quantum. I think it was close to this price new, but he found an open box for $700. I'd definitely find something with local dimming for this size and price.
Hope it wasn't a good friend and if so, you talked him into getting a really long extended warranty with that Vizio. Every Vizio product I have bought has gave up the ghost.

Excellent deal assuming this is better than Samsung KS8000.
I wouldn't assume that. KS8000 still holds its own. The ks8000 has a glossy panel which makes for more inky blacks IMO. Here's a comparison between the two below:

https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...eshold=0.1

The only upgrade I'd personally make from the ks8000 is either Sony/LG OLED, hisense H9G, or Samsung's high end models

So why isn't this a good gaming tv for Xbox Series X? Seems to check off all the boxes I can find.

My 2017 65" Vizio M series is still going strong as day one. I'm looking to upgrade it to a 75" P series as soon as i can find a deal on one.

I have the 85" version of this TV and it rocks!
All the bells and whistles turn on with PS5.
I calibrated it using spears and munsil UHD disc. Even without local dimming zones, it looks awesome. Direct lighting is better than edge lighting found on cheaper TVs.
Pair this with Apple TV, and turn on Dolby vision. Can't lose

If it still works, just give it to someone.Smilie If it doesn't work, check with your local recycling center(s). The county landfill in my area has a section that you can drop off electronics for free.

Oh right yea. My 7 year old 46 in vizio that I bought from a pawn shop, and my 6 year old 55in vizio are doing terrible. I hate how they are still working perfectly

oh, your personal experience with 2 or 3 products with the same name brand wasn't good, so that brand has never made a single decent product ever?

seems rational.
I can vouch. Have a vizio sound bar that is very frustrating. Sometimes sound won't come on and I have to do these charades to turn on, turn off, adjust input, turn off, turn on. The software Vizio has is just bad.

My brother bought one of the top end quantum 75" TVs. He's already swapped one due to image issue and the second one he's getting visible areas of lighting issues in the corners. It's been less than 6 months and he's about to return and get a different tv. He was upset because it was one of the highest rated TVs on RTINGS but both of us weren't very impressed with the image either.

If you'd like to gamble that is fine, that is just my experience and just sharing it. I personally will never buy another Vizio product again.

Then , which is a good 120 Hz at this price range, I have been researching for a while and all brands has some drawbacks.. pls suggest.. I shortlisted Hisense U6G and Vizio M65Q7, but they are not 120 Hz. And almost all tvs has low viewing angles. How about Samsung Qled / LG Nanocell ?

i don't mean to sound so insulting, but if you feel that way based off of your experience with 1 sound bar and 1 tv, you just don't understand electronics all that well.

2 vizio tvs of the same size from the same year, might not share a single component. 2 of the exact same product could have 1 be perfect and 1 be junk. placing your entire decision making process around your personal experience with 1 or 2 products and completely ignoring the reviews and ratings of the entire user and professional review community is just as silly as it sounds.

This is typical Sony.
Sony makes some of the most frustrating and insane decisions when it comes to their products

I had a Sony TV back in 2010 that was fairly smart for the time period. It has an EPG for over-the-air stuff and had most streaming platforms baked in. Which was great. Unfortunately, the time had to be set correctly for the TV to work.
Now, most people would have just set the Sony to auto-update the time based on a Time server. Heck prior to 2013, most PBS stations broadcast a time signal too. They could have used that. Or, you could have done what most computers do and installed a small CMOS battery that would power the clock(and only the clock) during power outages.

Did they do any of these things? No
Every time you lost power for a second, the clock would be reset. Which broke half of the smart features of the TV. There isn't really a good excuse for this configuration, particularly when you are relying on the clock for functions of the TV.

Sony makes nice TVs and electronics. They source good parts. But you have to deal with the fact that all of their consumer electronics are the result of an engineer and an art guy being the sole designers of the products. I dont even think they understand the concept of "the consumer". They sure as fark don't beta test their products with normal households.

Well if you read I mentioned my brother has gone through two different TVs of the same model and both of them faulty. In addition to my crappy sound bar that makes three items from them and that is only in my close network. And I will mention the sound bar was in vizio's premier line.

To me that is enough that I'm not willing to risk spending thousands of dollars on new equipment when I have a personal experience of 0 for 3 on their products. Especially when I have had very good success with my LG products.

Now if you had this same experience and still continue to purchase items from someone when you have had a track record such as this, then all the more power to you as you are a glutton for punishment. I personally like to learn a lesson and move on to something I have had a great track record with rather than waste my time with something I haven't.

I stated in my comment, this was my personal experience and I prefer not to purchase more products. By saying I don't know anything about electronics and making it personal I think was unnecessary. People can take my experience as they wish, I'm not going to attack people or pass judgement as you just did to me if they still decide to go with Vizio.
