There is nothing new about these prices. We have been buying Lavazza here via SD posts for years. The prices go up and down. If you like this coffee make sure to try the other Lavazza offerings too. Deals come up for them frequently. I mentioned my recommendations previously.

Starbucks coffee is sometimes referred to as Charbucks because they use a dark roast for their regular espresso drinks. Most espresso drinkers prefer medium roasts with a few preferring light roasts. Most of the Lavazza offerings are medium roast - in other words they taste like coffee rather than tobacco ash. From Starbucks perspective, they use a dark roast because it allows them to get away with using lower quality and therefore cheaper beans. The other thing about dark roasts is that they produce coffee with less caffeine. This allows Starbuck to sell more drinks because people can drink more of them.

I bought this coffee before and ended up tossing most of it. The taste is very flat and lacks any richness. It's comparable to coffee you would get at Denny's or in the lobby of a Holiday Inn Express.

Got this in spring. Nothing to write home about. Ended up buying Espresso Barista and it was a much better quality coffee.

I use a super superautomatic espresso machine and drink espresso daily and recently switched to this from a Starbucks espresso roast. I prefer this over the Starbucks. This is a good price as Lavazza is trying to gain market share in the US and have been reducing prices lately.

Love me some Lavazza, but this is their worst espresso. Yet it still beats Starbucks, especially for the price. Try their crema or gold (oro). A little pricier, but you'll never go back to Starbucks burnt garbage.

In for one. With 15% S&S it was $8.98. I've purchased it three separate times and I think it's a SD at this price.
This pushed me to buy, thanks!

$10 is what it's worth. I tell you this as someone who drinks espresso drinks every day and uses Lavazza beans most days. I do not drink this one. I stick to the "Crema" variants (that curiously have little crema) or the "Tierra!" ones. I do not drink drip pour-over coffee, but if I did I wouldn't use espresso coffee.
FWIW, the Lavazza Crema E Aroma Whole Bean has a S&S 25% off promotionโ€‹ right now making it $13.02 before tax:

This or the Barista Gran Crema? I find the Barista to be pretty good for the price. Haven't tried the E Aroma.

Go for the Barista Gran Crema. The Crema E Aroma is another iffy one I would avoid.

SD'ers are a weird bunch. On one hand there are people obsessed with saving even a nickel, and the other half feel they must overspend to get quality. The judgements of Lavazza beans are particularly interesting to me as peoples opinions run the gamut. So many opinions that are spoken as if they come from a place of authority. I know two things about Lavazza. They are not a joke in Europe and Italy as some portend. Two, I've never had "bad" Lavazza beans. I have my favorites, but none of their products are low quality. If you want to go down the rabbit hole of espresso you can always "one up" someone else with expensive brands. That only works because most people won't actually try $30+ a pound coffee. There is a point of diminishing returns. The best thing I can say about Lavazza is you get a lot of bang for your buck. Final thought. Coffee taste is extremely subjective, just like most things we eat and drink.

Unpopular opinion: I prefer the notes on this coffee than the SuperCrema.
