There is nothing new about these prices. We have been buying Lavazza here via SD posts for years. The prices go up and down. If you like this coffee make sure to try the other Lavazza offerings too. Deals come up for them frequently. I mentioned my recommendations previously.

Starbucks coffee is sometimes referred to as Charbucks because they use a dark roast for their regular espresso drinks. Most espresso drinkers prefer medium roasts with a few preferring light roasts. Most of the Lavazza offerings are medium roast - in other words they taste like coffee rather than tobacco ash. From Starbucks perspective, they use a dark roast because it allows them to get away with using lower quality and therefore cheaper beans. The other thing about dark roasts is that they produce coffee with less caffeine. This allows Starbuck to sell more drinks because people can drink more of them.

I may have to buy a grinder, the regular coffee I get is getting expensive anyway. Safeway now reduced the size but kept same price. I just do drip so nothing fancy.

i got the $10 bella blender on here a couple weeks ago and it came with a grinder attachment and has been working phenominal for me. im not sure if i got lucky or something but this grinds the beans perfectly imo.

Grinding beans is transformational even for drip, and you're right, ground isn't cheap (for decent ground). Whole bean is the only way to go. It's better than the first time you open a can or pack of ground, and you get more of that fresh aroma each time you grind.

Blade grinders work fine for drip and AeroPress. That will run you $10 - $20. Krups has always made a nice blade grinder but there are a lot to choose from. By the way, if you like drip you should try an AeroPress. It will blow your mind. The best cup of regular coffee I've ever made is with an AeroPress. It seems like such a crude device (a plastic plunger), but it's well engineered and makes a superior cup.

nice, you should write for a magazine! SmilieI got the Hamilton Beach grinder, rocking an old Ninja drip coffee machine with cone filter so I'll have to experiment. I may try an Aeropress, I just found an old pour over pot in storage for those power outages.

Problem is, I'm a zombie in the AM, it's all I can do to stumble in and press a button. I usually set up coffee at bedtime but I wanted to see what I'm missing with grinding. More like quantity over quality here.

Thanks, but this is the extent of my writing. I can relate to the zombie thing. I don't drink drip that often anymore though because I got hooked on espresso and I use a Lavazza LB 2312 capsule machine in the morning for convenience. 30 seconds after turning it on I'm making a shot and no cleanup.

I do have a nice semi-auto setup, but I loaded up on Lavazza BLUE capsules in the past year (400 of them). They were too cheap to ignore and I'm still working my way through them. Once they run out I'll probably go back to the semi-auto ritual of grinding, and pulling shots...unless I find more Slick Deals for Lavazza BLUE capsules Smilie

I couldn't agree more. I've been buying Lavazza for years now for the same reason. I like it and you can get it at a great price from time to time on Amazon.

simple tastes here too but mine hasn't shipped yet. Good thing I ordered some Prime stuff to grind in the meantime. Like my little Hamilton Beach, coffee is better. Should have done this years ago, I'm a coffee junkie
