Similar deal as before (except it takes more US dollars this year) But still a great savings and EFFICIENT!

When I bought mine in December 2020 these were retailing for $1250 in HD. A few months later I noticed the went up to $1360 and today my HD has them at $1525 So $980 is still a pretty good deal...

Again, Enter 97322 to shop the store in Oregon and pay the S&H fee and you will be way ahead of the game and on your way to saving mad money off your utility bill AND as a bonus, You'll receive a $300 Energy Star tax credit on your 2021 taxes from the IRS

This water heater is 75% less energy than a conventional electric 'resistance' water heater.

Is installation similar to a regular gas water heater? Mine is a GE 40Gal.

if you are switching from gas, you will need to add a 220v plug/line since a gas usually uses a 110v.

This is a heat pump electrical water heater, so you need 220v electrical power source ready !

While you're checking, confirm they allow diy to qualify. Mine does not.

After reading on the Home Depot website, You need a dedicated 220V 30 amp breaker. They suggest a minimum 10 gauge wire. This would work great in my hot summer garage as it puts out cool air when working as a heat pump.

Until these have an external heat exchanger (like an AC/Heatpump/Minisplit), if you have these in your house you are robbing Peter to pay Paul.

I have one in my (finished) basement and (a) it's a bit noisy (b) I only run it in heat pump mode from late spring to late fall. It's in the same room as my ice maker and spare fridge (+laundry) so it's got some waste heat to work from in the shoulder and cooling season and is great. In the winter, though, it just turns the room into an ice cube because it's sucking all the waste heat from the appliances and still pulling conditioned (heated) air in the room to heat the water. If you live in a year-round warm climate, it could be awesome, though.

Don't think there's any savings over a gas-powered unit, is there?

Did all the research online and spoke with any and all plumbers I came across. They're all just ok and you're lucky to get 5 years problem free out of them and you better the do the routine flush on them.

This issue is improper placement/installation of the water heater. You just need to get the vent kit so you can route the intake/exhaust out of the room or building. That will solve the temperature issues in your basement. Having said that, it does a great job of keeping my garage cool.

Yes, it is a noisy unit. But all hybrid water heaters are.
