Don't be a moron.

Not everyone on here is a lumberjack that needs a $500 stihl...

This thing isn't a monster, but its likely more than enough for the VAST majority of spindly computer nerds that need to trim up a few branches now and then or take down a 6-12" nuisance tree.

I own this and it's works great for what it is. It surprises most my friends. I bought the 40V Ryobi 14" and am selling it as I prefer this one. Great deal...

Better deal here [fatbraintoys.com].

Save your money for a good quality hand saw. At least you'll get some exercise and it'll make a nicer decoration.

What's the differences and benefits? I'm looking at the Ryobi as I have the weed trimmer/edger expand it attachments and a hedge trimmer in 40V.

It came down to blade length. The Ryobi has a 14" blade. I preferred the slightly longer blade. Not much difference otherwise.

Not a bad deal, but if you look at all their products that work with 40v it's pretty slim. This item, a pole saw, and a lawn mower. Just saying there are other companies that have more products that accept the same battery.

Gotcha. This is 80 bucks cheaper than getting the Ryobi with a 4ah, and I really want another 40v battery if I get the saw. I'm even tempted to order two of these to get two 4ah batteries and tools for twenty bucks more than one each on the Ryobi.

I was looking at the 12" 18v ryobi as well, but there's only a $10 difference between both ryobis with 4ah batteries. That seems kinda crazy as the 40 is not only higher voltage, but also a longer bar and about 2.5 times the chain speed.

This is the only tool I use outside the Ryobi universe. I own most all 18v and many 40v. I understand the challenge of the batteries. Watch for deals on Direct Tool Outlet....which you may be already. I've scored some tools and got the 4ah 40v for almost free.
