Can it actually do 170hz? Very often I find monitors can't do the refresh rate they claim to do.
Yes, on display port mine is running at 169.831.

Does anyone know if this monitor will do portrait? I know the included stand doesn't swivel but if I use an arm will this monitor support this?
Yes, it does portrait, portrait flipped as well as landscape flipped. Just tested them all out.

Anyone uses this for pic editing and light gaming?
I don't do picture editing, but I run CAD/Sketchup and do heavy gaming with it and has been a great monitor. Out of the box my colors were almost perfect, some say adjustment is needed. I run the over drive on Picture Quality and that has given me the best results across all media. Therefore I don't have to switch profiles when browsing, playing games, or CAD work. The software that supposedly allows you to change any monitor setting via the desktop doesn't work for me (can't even install it, might have to be paired with a Gigabyte video card or Gigabyte laptop...I'm using the MSI GE75 Raider 10sf from Costco).

Thank you very much. I was already looking for alternatives, but nothing else close to specs of this for the price in my early research.

You got the M32Q for $300 after tax? Or did you get the GIGABYTE G32QC

Both the Gigabyte 27" M27Q and 32" M32Q are on RTINGS.com best 5 USC-C Monitors list. USB-C for both data and video is such a nice feature to have. Have the keyboard, mouse, peripherals plugged into monitor and access through a single USB-C cable. Makes it so convenient and clean to dock and undock a laptop.

My Gigabyte 32" M32Q $320 and Lenovo Legion 7 5800H w/ 3070 $1350 are out for delivery today. Going to be a fun day.

I saw it for $370, not 320. Pretty good deal at $320

Well as promised I just got my M32Q in today. Simply put I will be keeping the M32Q and sending the 27 back. They are very similar panels and experiences, and you really cant go wrong with either one. While you can tell the PPI drop on the 32, it still looks very crisp and pleasing to look at, so much that I am a little surprised. And obviously the extra real estate is nice to have.

The two biggest differences to me that justify the extra cost (other than size) is that the 32 is a RGB panel, so there is not weirdness with text. Cleartype settings couldnt fix all the issues in Chrome, so every once in a while i was reminded my screen was odd with the 27. And secondly the 32 has lower input lag overall as compared to the 27. I mainly game online with this rig, so that matters to me.

However, for many people $100 extra probably isn't worth it, and I would have been very happy to keep either one.

Both of my units were constructed well and did not have any dead pixels or bleed issues. The only problem I encountered was on the 32, whenever I shut down the computer, when it booted back up it didnt see the USB's until I replugged the monitor usb cable. But its a common issue and I just had to update to the newest firmware and it seems to have solved it.

Best of luck.

PS - Forgot to mention, the 32 also has speakers, which is very nice to have for me, sometimes I just don't want to put on my headphones to watch a youtube video real quick.

Damn it, I got another monitor coming in. Got a perfect Gigabyte M32Q in the mail today.

- No Backlight bleed (at full brightness) whatsoever, WTF, never got a screen this good before.
- Zero Dead Pixel.
- Currently HDMI 144hz up for 75hz and it's so damn smooth.
- And the built in speakers aren't that bad either. Good for a clean desk setup with a single laptop.

Really didn't want this monitor at all but I won the damn panel lottery. Monitor is perfect in every possible way.
