Make sure you keep a screenshot of your order summary where it mentions the gc. Knowing comcast you won't get anything and the horrible CS will ask you to cancel your service.

I've gotten multiple gift cards from XM without issue in deals like this. Last year the two I got with the iPhone 12 Pros came in like a month. It used to be 12-16 weeks and took every bit of that. Even though this isn't a significant upgrade for me, it's really tempting.

Nope. If you're a new customer and porting in - you get it as "bill credits over 24 months". If you terminate early, you lose the discount over the remaining period ($15 per month x number of months remaining); you'll effectively be paying full price less the number of months that you actually got the $15/mth discount.

If you are a new customer and want to get the GC instead of bill credits

1) Port in as a new customer with your existing phone (BYOD)
2) After line ported in, ask for upgrade; you pay the full price ($729 for the iPhone 13 mini and so on).
3) Anywhere between 4 - 12 weeks after, you'll get a $300 gift card.
4) After 60 days service and paying at least one billing cycle - you can request unlock of the iphone.
5) After unlocking + getting the GC : you can cancel service or continue as you wish.

Oh wow I didn't even check. It was my wife's phone so I'll try a different sim when she gets back later.

Update: wife's phone is carrier locked. You got lucky!

For those going for the $300 off gc. Do note it says phone must be activated 15 days from the date of order. Considering the phone is backordered until 11/5. Meeting this condition is not possible. I ended up canceling my order after seeing this detail.

FYI, I am an existing customer who purchased iPhone 13 for a $300 Visa Prepaid Card, rather than $300 off. So, my phone is paid in full if that makes any difference.

My Iphone 13 pro came with "No SIM restrictions", after activation, swapped to Visible sim and works :-)

I know that's how Verizon sells their iphones (unlocked) and Xfinity Mobile basically uses Verizon phone models, so that sounds about right.

Edit: Sounds like some are getting sim locked phones, so not sure why some are unlocked and some aren't...

I signed up yesterday for xfinity byop and did the upgrade a few hours later through the app. I didn't want to be locked into 24 months and bill credits. I also paid with a credit card where you spend $1k in 3 months and get $200 back.

I joined Xfinity Mobile in-store and did BYOD x2, and then five minutes later I "upgraded" to 2x iPhone 13 Mini. So to answer your question, you can upgrade almost immediately after joining.

Same here. Hopefully my unlock request goes through. In the past I had to wait the 60 days. Not a big deal either way for me though. Wife doesn't have much need to use a different sim atm.

Update: LOL I got the unlock confirmation from xfinity, and...it was for my wife's old phone! Which was already unlocked years ago. Smh. Sometimes you just can't win. No matter, I can wait 60 days.

I was reading previous threads, and looks like if you byod you get a gift card and once you upgrade, you're entitled to the bigger gift card. Someone had to fight it and they got the byod and the $300 gc. Another had the byod gift card canceled and got the bigger gift card. So per se you can upgrade right away but their system gets confused on which card to give you and you may have to call them several times. Unless, in your account, their system will show you the gift card you qualify for.

This is the problem. Some customers are having the $300 gift card rejected if they also claimed the $50 gift card. There is no definitive answer, and you should be prepared to spend some time with customer service if you want to get both gift cards.
