  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

For those doing this as a new customer, are you receiving any emails from Tmobile after you purchase phone and sign up for new Tmobile account? Or just from Best Buy about the phone order?

If you're willing to wait for a while, Costco generally has a pretty good deal.
You save $100 off the price and they give you a costco card for the amount instead of the bill credits.

But availability is always the big problem with them. Could be months before you get the phone from them.
I decided to sit this one out. I know this is a good deal and pretty tempting but I rather wait. I have a feeling if both the pre-order deals (BB & Costco) are good there will be better if not equally good deals coming along through the holiday season.

Good luck hope you all get ur phones this Friday. Enjoy ur new phone.

Thanks! Any texts from Tmobile? Maybe my Tmobile order did go through. Their website didn't make it easy.

I'm guessing I'll have to remove my screen protector when trading my phone in to bestbuy?

I don't think the actual T-Mobile account will be opened until after you pick up your new phone and it's activated.

So anyone know in advance what we need to do for trade-in - previously i've shipped them so had enough time to transfer data.

in this case do i just make a backup through itunes and then reset to factory? Also - I have a esim activated, will have to check what to do there

You can do a back up or just transfer your data through Bluetooth and WiFi.
I think it's called QuickStart. Take about 30 min depending on how much gb your old phone used.

We have 8 lines on my family plan, but really 3 are spares. I pre-ordered 4 phones to upgrade and at store plan to trade in mine plus 3 of the spares. Then will SIM swap with wife and kids when I get home so they can do the backup/restores.

I selected Tmobile (my long time carrier) as my trade in even though it's unlocked. Any issue here? Unlocked wasn't an option.

Will they force me to activate this in store? I like to do this on my own and not having some person try to paw through my new $1200 phone.

Does anyone know if we can double dip this with the new Costco offer? The Costco offer is giving you 2x $300 GC to BYOD and once you do that can we activate this offer from BB?

wondering if its worth getting the 13 for $185 after trading a mini12
It depends how much discretionary income you have, but I think it's definitely worth it. Especially if, like me, you have been pissed off at the 12 Mini for the horrible, horrible battery life.

Yes. They will
They will do it themselves or let me pop out my sim and put it in the new phone? I don't want their grubby hands on my new phone.
