  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

It was a little more then popping the sim in. I did 4 12's last year and it took over an hr..
Like what? Debating if this is worth saving a bit over $100...Between this and having to wait for an unlock etc. not sure it's worth it.

I am trying to buy as T-mobile new user, but I cannot checkout, always got this message
'Please try again we had an issue, but it should be fixed now.'
I tried different browser and cellphone app.
Does anyone know the reason? thanks

Yes I received the same error at first when checking out today. Then when I tried doing the Tmobile part as a new customer with credit check stuff it wouldn't go any further. Then the credit page would come back with no error message but it wouldn't allow me to input date of birth info nor my driver's license. Definitely a site glitch.
go
Finally a page show up that my order went through but I have no word from Tmobile about a new account. No emails or texts. But did receive Best Buy email that order is good for $132 iPhone Pro Max.

So not sure what to do. May order again and cancel this one in store. Did you ever get your orders to go through?

How did you pass the credit check page? I always got error message, "Please try again we had an issue, but it should be fixed now."

I don't remember exactly what. It was about a year ago. You had to make an appt because it would take a little bit and I guess they didn't want everyone just showing up. I was with Att and they had new SIM cards. Actually it was 3 phones that took over an hr. He couldn't activate The last one in store for some reason and said I could take that one home and activate it there. Next time I'd just get them mailed to my house.

Does anyone know if you have to be the account head to trade in? I'm part of a family plan, but have access to all the account information...

Just want to make sure that everything is fine for when I go and trade in

Looks like they added a field for unlocked phones vs a T-Mobile phone. The unlocked trade-in value is $100 less. How will they be able to tell upon trade-in tomorrow? I originally used the T-Mobile field upon preorder to get the full $800 for my iPhone 12 Pro, but originally bought it unlocked.

The phone activation department shut down at 7 pm, so I couldn't get it done. I was on hold for almost an hour. The customer service rep told me the direct extension for phone activations is 671.

I just tried call in and have them place the order, but they said they are seeing the same issue when submitting the order, and they think it is the t-mobile issue... I guess I will need to move on, 2 of my lines worked but not the last one (the primary holder line), even though all 3 are under the same t-mobile account. I will go with apple deal instead.

I selected Tmobile (my long time carrier) as my trade in even though it's unlocked. Any issue here? Unlocked wasn't an option.

Will they force me to activate this in store? I like to do this on my own and not having some person try to paw through my new $1200 phone.
Unlocked is an option now with $100 less in trade in value. I did the same as far as selecting T-Mobile for trade in value , even though original phone is unlocked

I believe they have added this for newer IPhones 11 , 12 series.

Does this mean we will get $100 less when we trade it in even though we selected T-Mobile?

If they do that and asked to pay the difference when we pick up the phone, for sure a lot of unhappy customers. Will know tomorrow.
