  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

what's the point of choosing a carrier if you pay almost full price lol

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

It's probably a glitch in the bestbuy website. The carrier, color, and capacity don't matter at all. Only the model of the phone matters. Just put in another color to get the higher trade-in value. When you trade-in, they will verify the IMEI and pull up the correct trade value.

Lookup the trade-in value on this page.

That's what I was thinking. I'll try it and see what happens. It must be a glitch

The post you responded to was saying that if you ordered online with that high trade value, the store would adjust the trade value down from $858.32 to $280 and they wouldn't be able to process it, which you claimed was not true. That's why I asked to clarify.
No one is going to get $852 for the SE. It's just a glitch in the website. If you have a SE and you have time to waste, give it a try. But dont go purchase a SE and expect them to honor the mistake.

I submitted through Twitter last night (they were super busy, took about 2.5 hours before getting a reply back). Since the phone is dual sim and i need to use the second sim for work with another carrier, and i paid in full, i asked them to unlock so i could use both sim cards. Asked for receipt (screenshot of order from BB with it showing picked up), i provided both IMEI numbers, and cell number and contact number. CSR submitted and said will take up to 72 business hours; have another 52 hours to go, still showing "SIM Locked" under Carrier Lock and a non-TMobile sim did not activate.
Please update how long it took once you get it unlocked, after getting it unlocked can we cancel the account if I dont want to continue with Tmobile?

I had an infuriating pickup experience where the guy showed me his screen to confirm picked up, then proceeded to open the package! I thought they just tape the sim to the phone but no they without any warning just ripped the paper packaging apart! The best part is the person using scotch tape to tape it back telling me it's as good as new!

I had a pickup elsewhere where they just taped the sim to the box and sent you off... but clearly not at this location.
Wth, he got no right whatsoever to open the seal, especially without your permission. I would be pissed, even though I'm not planning on reselling it, I would still be pissed

Store can't adjust anything, they have to cancel the order and re-create another one with different trade-in phone this time.

Was anyone able to trade in an iPhone 6? I went to BB today and my trade-in wasn't accepted because the system kept marking it as "recalled." BB said the oldest model they accept is the 7, but I was able to trade in the 6S with no problem. I'm wondering if this was store-specific or nationwide?

Did they open the seal in front of you or was the box already opened when you pick up? Some stores will open the box to activate and check if the phone is working properly. But they must open the box in front of you. You can sometimes request that they don't open the box. If they opened the box before you came for pickup, you could refuse the phone. But you will have to wait for a while.

Why is the purple iPhone 12 get less trade in ?? What if I say black and show up with purple ?
Say it's a Sprint phone. You should get $620 credit for it. They don't care and won't check.

He opened it in front of me without any warning or ask, right after he pointed to the screen that said pickup complete. He didn't even tell me he was going to set it up or anything. I refused it, processed as a return.

I got to play with the phone. Now considering I have the 12 pro max, it's simply amazing how similar the 13 pro max is. It is iterative upgrade big time. I thought the 120hz would win me over but it seems to running at 90 mostly, read there's a bug but it's kinda so so. This will be a nice upgrade for my dad though. Not hating on it considering I have the 12 pro max. They are giving so much credit for but it's still a minor update.
