  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

TMO customer - cancelled 2 lines in the last 90 days, can I still do the BB trade-in deal?
COSTCO T-mobile bogo has condition no lines cancelled in last 90 days.
Hence wanted to check if someone in this situation.
Yes you can upgrade your phone and that's it. The trade is through best buy not TMobile

For those still waiting on a pending order, it looks like Best Buy does not honor pre-orders if new stock arrives at local stores. In other words, new stock is up for grabs rather than going towards filling existing pre-orders at the local store.

What you need to do is place a brand new order if you see local inventory (shows up on the product page, for example, "1 in stock at xyz location - ready for pick up in one hour.")

Place the order and select pick up at xyz location and more likely than not, it'll be ready for pick up within the hour/tomorrow. After pickup, just cancel your original pending order. This worked for two of my pending orders that were supposed to be "ready by 10/15." And yes, I was able to use the same tmo line to upgrade multiple orders.
Any of those happen to be 13 Pro Max?

That's definitely not what's described here:
https://swappa.com/faq/answer/us-...lex-policy

What you said about inserting an international SIM looks to be extremely risky.
So I can confirm that activation with international sim did not work " says invalid sim " when I entered my T-Mobile sim it activated instantly locking it for T-Mobile . Now I requested it to be unlocked from T-Mobile via twitter and that should take 3-4 days

Yup. The international SIM should work after the unlock goes through at least.

Just got my unlock from T-Force. I messaged them the same day I got my iPhone and they told me they'd get back to me in 3 days. 3 days later (today) they messaged me back and told me that my unlock was denied because i was ineligible, and no further explanation.

I asked why a couple hours later hoping i'd get a new agent (I did), who said she'd check and confirm the reason and let me know. 20 minutes later she replied to me and told me that i was in fact eligible and that they processed the unlock. Sure enough, checked my iphone settings and "SIM Locked" has now been replaced with "No carrier restrictions".

Tl;dr: If they don't process your unlock, keep trying, it WILL work eventually.

For people who did the T-Mobile upgrade, when you log into your account on tmobile.com, does it still show upgrade is available next to the line you upgraded with Best Buy? I'm wondering if Best Buy messed mine up because I still see that I have an upgrade.

Maybe Best Buy tossed me a gimme for the 4 days of trouble they gave me.

Quick question. I just paid off one of my iPhones that was on a T-Mobile EIP. It is fully paid off, but still locked to T-Mobile since I had moved SIMs within the family phones a week or two ago.

Even if LOCKED to T-Mobile (and I selected it was a T-Mobile phone for the trade-in), there should be no issue with the trade as long as it is fully PAID OFF, correct? Thanks!

Since you're paying outright it's not an upgrade in the traditional sense that you can only "upgrade" ever 2 years, that is no longer the case. You can go buy another iPhone with the same line. This Best Buy promo is not impacted if you have EIP or credits with the phone you're trading in.

Many shared that they traded in phones that were still on an EIP. So if your phone is paid off, def should not have any issues. Aside from poorly trained reps who are unfamiliar with processing the transaction or issues with their systems.

Best Buy doesn't care whether or not your phone is still on EIP. It's not a condition of their trade-in program. You can trade it in and just keep paying T-Mobile for the old phone.
