  • About this deal:
    • This is the lowest price we've seen for this TV, $100 lower than a previous Frontpage deal from July. -StrawMan86
  • About this product:
    • 4.8 out of 5 stars rating at Amazon
    • 4.8 out of 5 stars rating at Best Buy
    • Rated 8.8 out of 10 by RTINGS for mixed usage:
      • "The Sony A8H is an excellent TV for most uses. Its picture quality is amazing thanks to an infinite contrast ratio and near-instantaneous response time. It upscales lower resolution content well, which is great for watching cable TV or sports. HDR content looks excellent thanks to its wide color gamut and decent peak brightness. Unfortunately, although its input lag is great, it doesn't support advanced gaming features like VRR. Also, like all OLED TVs, there's a risk of permanent burn-in."
    • Includes a 1-Year Warranty

Just to be clear this TV has HDMI 2.0b but does not have HDMI 2.1. This means it does do 120hz but only at 1080p and not at 4k.

Edit: I should probably revise the above statement as it's not completely correct. Many people have reported that you can force 1440p at 120hz but only using a configuration tool like this one and enabling cvt https://imgur.com/a/k3CDZpM.

RTINGS claim that forcing it this way may cause the panel to skip frames so I honestly wouldnt buy it for 1440p gaming if that is a main priority.
What are they?
I got it for $1,200 on Prime Day. Amazing picture quality. I don't care about HDMI 2.1.

I would keep the 65. It's at least future proof imo.

I bought this six weeks ago for $1200. It's been nothing but a massive headache. One problem after another. Wish I could return the damn thing.

If you are using it as Monitor, can't you set the resolution to 2560x1440? HDMI 2.0 has a Data Rate of ~14.4Gbit/s, so it can do up to 144Hz 1080p 10bit(HDR) or 100Hz 1440p 10bit(HDR); it is possible to do 120Hz 1440p with 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.

Where do I even start. Color banding/gradients/posterization on this thing is atrocious compared to my 2015 LED Bravia (which had NONE). It rears its ugly head across all sources regardless of compression. It makes my favorite game, GTAVO, completely unplayable between making it look like a slow-motion slideshow and the horrific color banding it introduces. It also does this thing where every time you move the in-game camera up or down, the screen will adjust its brightness after approximately a half second. Every single time you move the camera! I have all of the auto-brightness features turned off so I have no clue why it's doing that. The TV ignores one of my HDMI inputs altogether which I have yet to troubleshoot successfully. And it does not play nice with my Apple TV 4K at all. Honestly, I'm exhausted from all of the fussing I've had to do with this thing and will continue to have to do...I wish I'd just stuck with my old TV which, while not 4K or OLED, worked flawlessly and wasn't bad on the eyes. The A8H definitely has its strengths but if you're like me, your heart will drop each and every time you see this unsightly color banding/posterization (which is often). I expected a lot more from a TV with a $1900 MSRP.

What do you mean by future proof. Don't know TVs that well. I'm happy with it just remember seeing picture of oled is real nice. Mine is not oled but still nice. Thx
