Apple and orange. If one wants a tablet sure go for an ipad. If one likes chromeos and like the ideal of having a 2-in-1 this is it. Regarding to update, this is guaranteed til 2028. Wishes the same can be said to the iPad. This also runs Linux and some Android app.

ChromeOS is much better if you want a more desktop operating system. You can run Linux apps on this in addition to Chrome and Android apps, so that means you can make this a real development computer with text editors, compilers, remote desktop connections, etc. This is a killer machine for a computer science student for example. You can run VS Code editor, install python, go, rust, C/C++ compilers, all of the javascript tooling, etc. and build real things.

Great price and great chrometab for new 128gig. The os will only get better. I use it for work.., YouTube etc. Great screen and build quality.

would be nice if they had a 12'" version. and 8 gig of ram. Has all the Google apps and chrome runs great.
I bought it when it came out for the same price. I liked it so much that i bought another one for my son. They require chromebooks in the schools in my state. I got a refurb for $140 3 weeks ago. Looks good as new.

New Lenovo Duet 5 are coming out soon with 13.3 inch OLED screen.

Looks like they are coming out with a 13.3" OLED one of these. They'll also keep selling these entry level models.

Chromebook > iPad for my workflow. iPad OS is just a pain in the butt for multitasking/split screen. Any time saved with the processing power is lost with the UI for doing actual work.

I'll agree with this sentiment. Though last fall I was needing a new device for remote teaching math. It was between this with a USI stylus and an iPad.
In my use case, I 100% agree that the iPadOS is a pain for multitasking, but my goodness the pen latency in ChromeOS vs iPadOS (even the $299 A12 iPad I got) is night and day.

Highly recommend the iPad for those who want pen input and the 10 inch form factor.

Bought the Lenovo Duet now for my daughter though, because this is still a fantastic device and price

You're not describing the majority of users. Yes, for that particular use case, this Chromebook could make a better computer. But for most, the original person identifying the iPad as much better performance (which is generally the most important characteristic of a computer) is definitely right. And they're pretty close pricewise.

Let's not even compare ease of use or better apps or other advantages.
From someone in software development, the most important characteristic of a computer is not performance. The most important characteristic is for it to do what you need it to do.

Which one is a better chromebook?

If you need a 10" cheap tablet chromebook with good screen get this. Otherwise lenovo flex5 seems good. You've definitely watched Engadget and chrome unbloxed youtube videos haha

edit: 32gb internal memory maybe too small for some. just be aware.

edit2: check out acer spin 713. there are i3 and i5 options. i3 is around 400 on ebay and i5 is around 430 for a refurbished on ebay.

128 GB Lenovo Duet with proper foldable keyboard = $229
64 GB iPad with Apple Smart Keyboard = >$400

Pretty similar price wise. Absolutely.

new at $229 fopr 128gb memory I would say it is pretty good.

I got the refurb 64gb one a few months ago and very happy with it.
GOOD
- screen is good resolution
- good quality screen
- sound is loud
- good keyboard good size to type on.
- comes with keyboard

BAD:
- no dedicated caps lock or F1-f11 keys (you need to use a key combination to get those)
- sometimes the touch screen is not that responsive

UGLY:
- magnet kickstand. while it works well it makes it's butt kinda big.

I had it last year and took it back, its just too slow to be useful, they should've put in a better processor. Hopefully the next revision fixes that.

No Chromebooks have dedicated CAPS LOCK or FUNCTION keys.
