No need to side load, you can download and install from the Play Store. Works great for 4K H265 files.
I have the roku 75in and love it. I have a vizio that does what you describe that will not respond to the remote.

In my opinion, hisense is a great budget tv. You want quality, fork out more money.
I have Hisense U6G 55 inch ..pretty solid tv in terms of color, contrast and performance...I would suggest taking U6G or U7G series..they are very superior compared to A series

I would also like to know if anyone has had success with that also. I purchase a hisense android tv a year ago for that reason but never could find out how to do the kodi sideload. however this is absolutely the worse brand tv i've owned and i pretty much have almost all brand(sony, lg, samsung, philips, vizio). the freaking tv will not respond to anything on the remote sometimes and you can't even shut it off w/o actually pulling the power cord. this has happened several times. been on phone support with hisense and they tell me to do the usual updates and etc.but no fix. we and my wife can never get the stupid casting to work on either of our phone.tv takes a good 30s-1min to power up. we really want to just throw this pos away and get another one.

I have a different Hisense Android model. Maybe this one is better, but ours is kind of sluggish tbh. I'd probably get a Roku version instead of I were to do it again…though you can always just add an external streaming device and that's usually going to be better anyway.

Happy that I picked this up during the labor day sale for $550. Nice TV for the price and the 70" is HUGE. Keep in mind that discover still has 5% CB till the end of this month if pay via paypal. Also don't forget to go through CB website.

Bought the 60 inch version had dead pixels stuck pixels, black spots. QC on these TV's is very poor. Check your tv and good luck

Yeah prob better to stick to the hisense u6g and u7g for budget sets. 60's and 70's seem to be lower quality panels.

Speaking of which I am waiting for them to go back on sale. A u7g 65 for around 900 would be a fantastic value. Fingers crossed.
