The bad reviews dealing with the flexible keyboard kills this deal. Go see one in person before you buy.
Interesting. I hunted around for reviews on the new version (this one) and it appears reviews are mostly positive. A few comments on the keyboard being "crammed" but for my seven year old for school I wouldn't suspect that would be an issue.
Comment about try before you buy is always good advice but care to point to the negative reviews you are seeing? If the new model doesn't address the old issues that would be concerning.

This is the only one I could find again, but check out this video at about 3:40. I was ready to buy this and went to Best Buy to pick one up. It only takes the slightest pressure on the keyboard and you get random clicks. And I'm not exaggerating that it takes almost no pressure to make it click.

I just got one of these today, and you can't make that clicking sound unless you're pressing from the back of the keyboard, so it is a moot point, as you'll never use it that way. I will say that the keyboard/touchpad are definitely loud when you click/type, but by no means a deal breaker, especially not when this thing is as fast as it is. I mean it's a $600 chromebook for just under $400. I would def pick this up if it is still available, though it was in very short supply when I ordered mine, I got the one of the last of the teal one, and the shadow was already sold out.
***Also, in that video, while it makes a clicking noise, it doesn't actually perform a click, so again, it's a non-issue.

Well, even the Duet keyboard is more sturdy. If it's that flexible when new, I doubt if it will hold up over time.

Just because it was originally priced at $600, doesnt make it a $600 worth Chromebook. HP went too high with the pricing. Considering Lenovo original Duet's $299 list price for 128 GB memory, $600 was just too high for the X2 11. It is a better machine in same form factor, but not twice as good, given that Duet is now easily selling for sub $225.
Paltry sales and Lenovo announcing new Duet 5 for $430 for release in October (a better machine than this X2 11 with OLED screen and Qualcomm 7cx 2nd Gen) made HP adjust the pricing to what it should have been to start with.

This seem so much more reasonable for the price
