This was on sale two days ago for $299.99, went back up to $349.99 yesterday, and is back at $299.99 today.
The previous lowest price for this model from Best Buy was $349.99 during November of 2021.
This has a "regular price" of $599 but was almost always available at $399 before this sale activity.
A few notes from their Q&A section on Best Buy's product page:- This model has a micro SD slot for expandable storage
- This is the non-LTE variant
- Comes with sylus
- Updates through August 2029

It seems that HP "sorta" botched this one.
People like:
-Things that look and perform cheap, that are cheap.
-Things that look cheap and perform well, that are mid-priced.
-Things that look and perform like high-end, that are priced accordingly.
Apparently, people do not like:
-Things that look high end and perform poorly, that are mid-priced. Which is this model in a nutshell.
As another user posted, top build-quality and perfect tablet-sized chromebook with keyboard that ultimately fails with mediocre performance and for me, a failing stylus.

I mean, the nice pen and keyboard case that are included could cost $299 alone for a surface or ipad, so in one sense the tablet is almost free.
However, this still is a relatively unique device at its price point, and for me the best thing about it is that aspect ratio. If the LTE model came on sale I would be really tempted against my better judgment

You can use Duet Display app on a Chromebook (it was once a free Chromebook perk offer), or use a USB to HDMI capture device to plug in an HDMI service. The first may have some lag, but may be more functional since that's it's purpose, the second would limit resolutions (pretty much whatever the capture card can do, usually 1080p at 30Hz), but you wouldn't need additional software on your connected PC. Overall, better off getting a sub $150 portable monitor, everything else here would be hacky and wouldn't allow you to use full display capabilities anyway.
Also, Mediatek has released since the Kompanio 828 that is much better than the 7c while being similary priced, and the Kompanio 1380 will help a lot to close the gap while remaining cheap.
My dream is a Chromebook with a DImensity 9000-type of chip tho.
