They're not cheap, even at the sale price, but I've had enough cheap smart home stuff that I'm willing to pay more for reliability now. These are ingenious little devices that work exactly as described, in my experience. Solves the problem of switches getting turned off and allows people to use them without understanding how smart stuff works.

Wired smart switches are probably more economical in many situations, but I wanted to be able to change the color temp in some rooms so those rooms get Hue bulbs.

I bought one on sale to try it out awhile ago and decided to order another last week when they were still $40 each. Noticed the price drop and has Best Buy price match since that's where I ordered but didn't think to post it here.

This is very interesting. I have a room with paddle switches and smart bulbs. I have attached an Ikea round wireless remote to the top of the paddle switch, essentially locking it into an on position. I like having the ability to manually turn on or off the bulbs by ripping off the wireless switch, however, but this Lutron solution requires the hard wiring of the bulbs for paddle switches.

I think this device solves about 90% of the issues it claims to solve, the biggest one being the switch accidentally being shut off. The rotary knob to retain on/off plus dimmer functionality is a nice touch, which I think warrants the $30 price point. At the original $40, it should have allowed you to cycle through the Hue scenes.

I've heard something about these things using up a lot of resources on the hub (as many as 16 against <15 that the Hue dimmer switch uses). It shouldn't be a problem for me, but if you have a lot of devices and a lot of dimmer switches, it could easily be a problem.

Clear Switch Plate Cover Guard

Two of these for are about $6 at any hardware store. It prevents people from casually turning off the switch, but you can still reach in from the side and turn them off. In a pinch you can turn them off and then back on, which usually causes a smart bulb to come on.

I have a bunch of these, and slowly have been relegating old Hue dimmer switches to beside duty in all of the bedrooms since these lock the original switches on. Works way better when family and guests are over and want to adjust the lights. No doubt these are normally too expensive at $40 ea, so this is a good deal (at just merely expensive) if you are deep into the Hue ecosystem. The one drawback - as someone else mentioned - is you'll quickly run into resource limitations with the Hue Hub. I think I maxed out at 12 of these on a gen 2 Hub, so I picked up another.

These very obviously do more than just cover the switch. They provide most of the functions that a Hue dimmer switch does, but in a rotary form factor.

The real question is why couldn't these two companies figure out a way to do everything in the same product. For smart lighting, it sure doesn't seem very smart.

why not get built in smart switches? you can even disable to switch so it's always on.

I'm a huge Hue fan and I have one of these already in the bedroom. Getting a pair now for the other rooms. Works great.

I ran into the 250 rule limit with these but thankfully that's per hub. They work great when I do use them, these days it's all voice recognition and motion sensors for me. These switches are for guests.

This is the cheapest that I've seen them.

BTW, you can modify what these switches do with 3rd party apps.
