Only downside is game collection is not so great.. and often they are very expensive. Their pro subscription at 10 bucks a month is not at all justifiable.
Definitely not worth for full time gamers. Casual gamers playing only a handful of games like me .. 60 bucks for a game and chromecast is well worth it.
In my experience it is neither slow nor laggy if you have reliable home internet.

my internet is only 250M down and 10M up, so not the best but also not the worst.
Note that because my internet isn't the greatest and that I am a PC gamer first, I avoid many FPS games that requires me to use the RS to aim. I play mostly single player, story driven, sports or simple fighting games where i don't need to worry about my aims.
With GPU, there are so many more games and EA subscriptions so I have been very busy in that regard, however, the connection and quality of xcloud sometimes stress me out. In the last 9 months I've tried on average about 2 2-hr game sessions per week with xcloud. My connection went haywire and causing the browser/screen to go black a couple times. Twice this year, I've had the voice in the game become robotic. About a handful of time when I noticed a 1-1.5 sec lag in my game picture. The worst thing for me to endure is that when I press play, it takes roughly 3-5 seconds (feels like an eternity sitting), sometimes 10 seconds for the game to be launched. I remember at least twice where I had to restart the browser because xcloud wouldn't launch anything. My main games here are PES, Yakuza series, Outer Worlds, etc.
With stadia I've only got to try it maybe 1-hr a week because I'm not paying for a sub and the game I paid for, I bought it on sale and will always be there for me whenever I need it. So I wasn't in as much rush to complete and play as I do with GPU. Even then, I've never run into any hiccups with stadia. The game just launches immediately when I click "play" on my google Tv, on my tiny android phone, and on my browser. My main game here are Destiny 2 (kb+ms), Dragon Quest 11, and FFXV.
I highly recommend interested person to first use the Stadia Destiny link to test out their connection and see first hand how cloud gaming is in their home. Everyone has different ISP and speeds, and proximity to various Google or Microsoft servers will also change many things.
If you already have GPU, game on and maybe keep 1-2 interesting games with high replayability on stadia so you have options even at locations with unknown internet speeds. If you are on the fence and without an xbox, I'd say invest in 1-2 games on stadia first. GPU is still expensive unless you can go Gold and transfer and that xcloud beta is still not as stable as I would like them to be. And use Stadia to gauge out how much time you will game on the cloud and how much data it will eat into your internet plan.
If you have an xbox already, I can't say I'd recommend stadia. Xbox combined with GPU should, ideally, take over your life.
Does Chromecast have an actual home page and menus yet?
Can it run any Android apps?
I still don't understand Chromecast. It's a device with OS but without any user interface or apps. Or does it now?
We have a bunch in every conf room of our office and no one uses them for anything. Just screensaver with flowers lol
I used my PS4 Controller with my Galaxy Tab S4 and Galaxy Note 10, did both wire and bluetooth, wired was a tiny bit better probably, but not so noticable. I am sure for FPS one might have issues.
Matching online games was quick too. This is a really good option to try, especially for those games like Fifa where graphics is not the main concern, but still the graphics were good. And the new motion pro technology is also very impressive.
On PS4, i Hve to buy the console, and buy PS plus membership to play online. This just the game if i already have hardware, and from my phone or tablet, you just click the app and the gane launches in less than few seconds. Thats so convenient! For serious gamers this is a secondary option, but i might be migrating to stadia

Stadia on your phone with a Backbone or Kishi controller is a near lagless experience. I played through the entirety of Celeste on Stadia.
