Service is awesome.. no doubt.. convenience to kick off wherever and whenever you want.. mobile, tablet, TV with chromecast is really great. Especially... when leading busy life with kids.

Only downside is game collection is not so great.. and often they are very expensive. Their pro subscription at 10 bucks a month is not at all justifiable.

Definitely not worth for full time gamers. Casual gamers playing only a handful of games like me .. 60 bucks for a game and chromecast is well worth it.

They have servers all over the US. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goo...th_America

In my experience it is neither slow nor laggy if you have reliable home internet.

Uh, it's a digital game, how exactly are you going to do that? And it's a digital game that only works with Stadia, at that.

It ran well for me but the graphics seemed pretty bad, could just be the game itself though.
Did you run in performance or quality mode?

Why would anyone get this over Gamepass Ultimate?
i will give you my 2 cents as i've been double dipping both gpu and stadia this entire year.
my internet is only 250M down and 10M up, so not the best but also not the worst.
Note that because my internet isn't the greatest and that I am a PC gamer first, I avoid many FPS games that requires me to use the RS to aim. I play mostly single player, story driven, sports or simple fighting games where i don't need to worry about my aims.

With GPU, there are so many more games and EA subscriptions so I have been very busy in that regard, however, the connection and quality of xcloud sometimes stress me out. In the last 9 months I've tried on average about 2 2-hr game sessions per week with xcloud. My connection went haywire and causing the browser/screen to go black a couple times. Twice this year, I've had the voice in the game become robotic. About a handful of time when I noticed a 1-1.5 sec lag in my game picture. The worst thing for me to endure is that when I press play, it takes roughly 3-5 seconds (feels like an eternity sitting), sometimes 10 seconds for the game to be launched. I remember at least twice where I had to restart the browser because xcloud wouldn't launch anything. My main games here are PES, Yakuza series, Outer Worlds, etc.

With stadia I've only got to try it maybe 1-hr a week because I'm not paying for a sub and the game I paid for, I bought it on sale and will always be there for me whenever I need it. So I wasn't in as much rush to complete and play as I do with GPU. Even then, I've never run into any hiccups with stadia. The game just launches immediately when I click "play" on my google Tv, on my tiny android phone, and on my browser. My main game here are Destiny 2 (kb+ms), Dragon Quest 11, and FFXV.

I highly recommend interested person to first use the Stadia Destiny link to test out their connection and see first hand how cloud gaming is in their home. Everyone has different ISP and speeds, and proximity to various Google or Microsoft servers will also change many things.

If you already have GPU, game on and maybe keep 1-2 interesting games with high replayability on stadia so you have options even at locations with unknown internet speeds. If you are on the fence and without an xbox, I'd say invest in 1-2 games on stadia first. GPU is still expensive unless you can go Gold and transfer and that xcloud beta is still not as stable as I would like them to be. And use Stadia to gauge out how much time you will game on the cloud and how much data it will eat into your internet plan.

If you have an xbox already, I can't say I'd recommend stadia. Xbox combined with GPU should, ideally, take over your life.

The controller doesn't work as a remote for other apps on Chromecast, correct?

Does Chromecast have an actual home page and menus yet?

Can it run any Android apps?

I still don't understand Chromecast. It's a device with OS but without any user interface or apps. Or does it now?

We have a bunch in every conf room of our office and no one uses them for anything. Just screensaver with flowers lol
Controller works with anything if it's wired, wireless though it only works on stadia as the Bluetooth module isn't activated. Chromecast is still the same, no user interface. I like it for my younger kids because I can control what/when they watch without blocking them off wifi.

Plug in with a wired connection. And FPS dont work great... if you're playing turn based or something this is awesome. Id probably go for Far Cry 6 but you know, fps.
Seriously? 99% of what I play on Stadia is The Division 2, which while it's technically a third person shooter, requires the exact same response time, and plays perfectly.

Guy must not have actually tried it out and just makes assumptions. If anyone reading this is in the same boat, load up destiny on your TV, you can use your phone as a controller and test it out without buying anything

I just tried the Fifa 22, and WOW. The online gameplay was much better than my remote play on my PS5 Pro on my LAN, better quality and smooth.
I used my PS4 Controller with my Galaxy Tab S4 and Galaxy Note 10, did both wire and bluetooth, wired was a tiny bit better probably, but not so noticable. I am sure for FPS one might have issues.

Matching online games was quick too. This is a really good option to try, especially for those games like Fifa where graphics is not the main concern, but still the graphics were good. And the new motion pro technology is also very impressive.

On PS4, i Hve to buy the console, and buy PS plus membership to play online. This just the game if i already have hardware, and from my phone or tablet, you just click the app and the gane launches in less than few seconds. Thats so convenient! For serious gamers this is a secondary option, but i might be migrating to stadia Smilie

If you are buying this to play games on you'll be disappointed. Its incredibly slow and laggy unless you are close to the servers. The chromecast is nice, and can you the controller on PC with the cable.
My experience has always been fine

Having used Stadia in multiple locations throughout the US, this is factually incorrect. The only issue is how fast your internet is...

Stadia on your phone with a Backbone or Kishi controller is a near lagless experience. I played through the entirety of Celeste on Stadia.
