I ordered 5 boxes of these a few weeks ago from Walmart in anticipation of the Delta surge. Every single box had expired 3 months earlier. Some of the lot numbers had their expiration extended 6 months by the CDC, but not the tests I received. I returned them all. Check the expiration dates on the back when you receive them.

My mom and grandma tested positive, they were symptomatic, which is why we tested them. When they tested positive, we tested the entire family that was in close contact with them. Everyone tested negative, quarantined the next week and all tested ourselves about 5 days later, and one person then tested positive. A 3yo, who only had a fever(after testing positive). My mom and grandma tested positive for about 2 weeks, and you could see the difference in the tests as they were taking tests every few days. The 3 yo also tested positive for almost 2 weeks as well. I found them to be pretty reliable. When only the 3yo tested positive, the family went to get PCR tests and they all came back negative except for the 3 yo. Same as these tests.

So when a new variant became dominant, they had to clarify their messaging?

Crazy!

Better to pick a single statement (COVID is just the flu) and stick with it for years disregarding all evidence otherwise, eh?

Just wondering: if these are being sold at cost, why has the price changed so much?

No - I think you need the Ellume test (with an extra $15 payment to have a video observation session) or a special pack of 6 by Abbot that is also sold for travel.

No. PCR test required for that.

No, you the need the version with the ag-card and E-Med service. It's basically the same test but does not come with the E-Med monitored testing. The cheapest I have found is on the Abbot website at about $66 for two tests.

My father will be flying to another country in a month. His airline (not US carrier) requires a PCR, antibody, or similar test that is administered by a clinic (CVS, Walgreens, etc. is fine) doctor, or health care provider(including state/county operated drive through sites). The test has to be done I believe within a 3 day window of the flight. He mentioned that home tests do not count as a replacement for one that is administered by a healthcare provider.

This is a true YMMV. International carriers have been much more strict with COVID testing than US ones so I strongly suggest you contact your carrier or their website. My dad is a US citizen and he was not allowed to book a flight to the US without providing documentation that he is COVID free. He the. Had to take the PCR two days before he traveled home to the US.

I only mention all this because I would not want you at the checkin counter finding out you can't go to your beach vacation, see the grandkids, leave for your honeymoon etc. at the last second.

This whole thing feels like a racket. How reliable can a home test like this be?
I've been using this every other day since my sister tested positive. She has used it too and it does work. I've come up negative and she has come up positive.

Individual tests are only around 55 percent accurate, but if you use both it's up to 95 percent.

It seems if you order 2 packs, the price changes, because I'm getting $43. Is the price for one still working?

"...P.C.R. tests often identify small amounts of the Covid virus in people who had been infected weeks earlier and are no longer contagious. Rapid tests [like this Slickdeal] can miss these cases while still identifying about 98 percent of cases in which a person is infectious..."
