I prefer to base value of a deal off of what they sell for now, not what they originally sold for.
You'll probably need a separate Bluetooth transmitter to use it though. As far as I know, no phones, streaming sticks etc support the codec natively. In my case I use a little type C transmitter that's almost flush when inserted. It's designed for the Nintendo switch, but works with my phone, laptop and chromecast with Google TV (with a type c hub). It also allows 2 headphones to connect at the same time, but if they don't both support AptX LL then it's disabled on both while they're connected.

At this point I would not even consider the AirPods Max. That is 170% the weight and 150% the clamping force of these Sennheisers.

According to https://www.reddit.com/r/sennheiser/comments/9oby4q/pxc_550_device_switching/ [reddit.com] - you can connect multiple devices and they will automatically switch to one outputting the sound which is very annoying - notification from laptop will switch it to the laptop when I'm trying to listen to the music from the phone.
Just came here to comment that I bought these new from Amazon around $160 a year ago and love them. I couldn't see paying up for Bose, and I'm happy with these. Wanted a closed back design to crank up the music and not be bothered, or bother others. These deliver !
I had this issue as well with other Bluetooth headsets and I found out updating your PC's Bluetooth drivers fixes the issue

App is also okay, I never messed with it because the factory settings a rock solid imo
I probably should have clarified that you should order the dongle after going through these troubleshooting steps. I just assumed it had been done since it was now to the point of using a cable connection.
But there have been a couple of cases on a desktop that this and host of other troubleshooting steps did nothing...and I had to go the dongle route.
