Platinum is supposed to be a premium credit card - has one of the highest annual fees of any CC, and they add a Walmart benefit? I think Amex is confused and really diluting the brand and product

The new Soulcycle benefit that was also added is completely worthless

They diluted their AMEX Deals too. It used to be only a few but they were all very decent. Now its full of junk from tiny retailers that i've never heard of and takes forever to filter through the garbage.

I admit, i will probably use this Walmart deal but i dont thiink the typical AMEX Plat card holder would ever step foot insiide a walmart.

I hope AMEX dont continue going down the shitter.

Wow, talk about out of touch! I know a handful or Platinum card holders (myself included), and none of them would have any qualms with shopping at Walmart.

I am getting my platinum through Morgan Stanley, so NO Amex annual fee. Having said, I already got my $200 travel credit, Peacock streaming for free, there was paypal credit earlier this year, HBO $25 back and much more.. W+ is nice addition which otherwise I would not have purchased, W+ may not get as much attention as my Amazon Prime..but W+ its definitely nice when it is free!

You guys are delusional lol. Amex will give the Plat to practically anyone that can pay the fee. It's not "elite". They won't cancel your card if you go through the doors of a Walmart.

I rarely shop at Walmart. If I do I have a plan to get in and get out quickly. The link in the OP is taking me to an Walmart error page. Can I just sign up regularly and as long as it charged to my platinum it'll earn the credit?
I signed up through the Amex app by selecting benefits and see all benefits...it takes you to a Walmart page and is super easy. Done in 60 seconds via the app

Still a premium card. The fee is not offset by the perks because a lot of those perks are useless, FYI.
While some of the perks are not for everyone, most can take advantage of the big ones and the fee will be close to zero or very low.

$200 airline credit. You can book flights with JetBlue and southwest with it (there's a threshold that will trigger the credit)

$200 Uber cash. Easy and can be used with Uber eats.

$200 hotel credit though their portal. It's true that you can get a better price, but if you need an hotel for a night or two you can use it without problems. I'm using it for a night at nyc for a wedding that I'd have to pay anyways.

$179 Clear credit if you travel.

$155 Walmart+ credit.

$240 digital credit. I pay audible and NYT with it.

Every 4 years they pay for my global entry membership.

The only big one I don't use is the $300 equinox credit.

The card is aimed to travelers. Most travelers can use those credits easily and the annual cost of the card is practically zero.

I have a SkyMiles card (which also has this offer) and while I don't shop a lot at Walmart (mine are that close) it's great for certain deals and items that many other stores do not have near me, or for free shipping, so this is great for me and many others.

Also, it might make more sense to wait a couple of weeks to sign up, so that after the 15 day trial, the 1 month credit would cover past Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Great deal! I use this 2-3x a month. I just pay a ~$7 tip and there are no other delivery fees.
I saw that Walmart was using third-party delivery services that asked for tips. No way I'm going to start tipping for every delivery I receive. Do you tip your Fedex & UPS drivers too?

Add to this $180 given this year by PayPal shopping + $100 for Saks.

Most people are failing to recognize that there are no fees for military, so before you think the card is held more by "World Travelers" and "snobby rich folks" who don't shop at Wal-Mart, maybe consider the millions of military and dependents using this card. I'd bet there's more under $100k housholds using this card.

This is great. I just ordered $3 Peppa Pig Band-Aids, and someone is going to drive to my house and drop them off.

Free is good. But the only benefit this W+ confers seems to be removing the minimum for free shipping. There are no Walmart gas stations near me and I rarely need prescriptions. How on earth do they expect to compete with Amazon Prime (with Prime video streaming) at $12.95 per month?

From my reading of https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/07/cn...index.html this appears to be a "new" but across-the-board-standard- benefit for Amex Platinum Personal card members (i.e., it doesn't have to show up in your "offers"). IMHO Any "offers" (such as the one i have for one time 1500 Amex Points when spending 12.95 on monthly W+ membership) is likely double dipping...

Oh, and about Amex Platinum being some kind of exclusive club whose members don't shop W+, I do BOTH, as do many of my friends who have Amex Platinum. I don't know anybody who doesn't like a good deal....

Again IMHO.

And why cap the number of deals to display at 100? I would think each and every one of Amex's partners would want to a crack at marketing its deal to potential customers. I'm glad supermarkets don't work this way.
