There is a difference between the TP-Link Archer AX3000 and the TP-Link Archer AX3000 (ax50) !
Here is a link to TP-Link to show the difference. https://www.tp-link.com/us/compar...10%2C41125
The ax 50 has usb 3 and the regular has usb 2.
Also I think the ax50 has extra features and perks.
The model in this thread is the plain AX3000 model.
This is just info, you can research for yourself and help others give insight into the differences. Also, lets weight the pro's and con's of waiting until XMAS season with super sales and longer return policies. We are a little more than 6 weeks away from BF/CM/Xmas season.
Ya because antennas have not been invented yet.
Great price, good entry to medium level router. Only downside is these are known to overheat cause of the plastic casing they use, so be very careful with it.

Based on my experience, best single routers are made by Synology and Asus. If that's not enough you can extend your network with their mesh abilities adding more units.
Which Asus router would you recommend for someone with ~30 devices in a 2000sqft one level home? I currently have an old 66u with Merlin and it works ok but dont get anywhere near my ISP speed (Spektrum 200 but always get less than 100). Thanks in advance for your recommendation.
Did some research on this one and there are a ton of complaints about it overheating and dropping connections. Their customer support gives really terrible solutions to fix it, seems like the best one is get a laptop cooler with power over USB to connect to it, or get a different model like the AX21 with a better design.
I bought this router last year around this same time and has been super reliable for me. I put a case fan under mine since day one and haven't had a single issue.
DO NOT! buy this router I had to return it it would overheat and throttle my speeds and connection making the internet unusable it would got so hot it would hurt your hand DONT BUY
I bought the AX3000 plain version Oct 2020. This router worked for maybe 3 months but died on me. I haven't taken the time to determine if the powersupply or the router died but no lights come on. I did read there is a two year warranty. I moved on to an Asus router.
I have an internet business where I install these all day long. I must have installed 90 or 100 of these and last year and as long as you get them elevated off the surface 1"-the overheating issue is not a problem. They're cheaply attached antennas are a problem if you're not careful with them.
Diesel work in two-story houses up to 3500 square feet with negative 45 dbm readings.
As far as I know these were made solely for Walmart the other models being the ax50 for other vendors.
$79.99 is the lowest price I've seen Walmart was selling these for $99.99 for a long while and then drop the $87 and now $79 this is a steal for a $79 router.
I'm easily pushing 350 to 390 Mbps with a Motorola MB8600 modem with a 400 megabit per second plan.
They're super easy to configure with the tether app and it's just a excellent easy to install router don't over complicate or overspend on these issues.
I have the AX1500 version (different router, I know, probably even different processor brand). I set it to reboot weekly, then later on, nightly, and that seems to do the trick. I do have to reboot it during the day once in a while. I've got the router's back end elevated almost an inch.
We got an ax21 a month ago and it works fine, no dropouts with multiple streams. We just want the internet. Why do you hate it?
Main issue is connection stability. Connections keep dropping. Devices do not see the WiFi (like, they disappear from the device, appear, then disappear again). The admin interface can't figure out what tplinkwifi.net is, so I had to hard code the IP address to avoid errors. Although, it seems to be better for the last month or so. Also, I see no visible improvements over Archer C9 (C9 was rock solid, did not have to reboot it at all, but LEDs died, so I decided to upgrade).

I just got that one from an amazon deal on here for $69 and am still within my return window:

- Transmit Power: 30 dBm vs 20-30 dBm
- Ports: 1 x 5 Gb/s USB Type-A vs 1 x 480 Mb/s USB Type-A

So, if I were you, I'd get the AX3000 (AX51). Btw, I have two AX21 (one primary and one AP) and I hate them. Looks to be dead. Guess I debated too long.
