I had sound issues as well. Not the same as you, as the sound would just stop for me if left it sitting. I think I resolved my issue with a new HDMI cable. Might be worth a shot for you as well.
By "stop", did you mean muted? And that was what I experienced. The sound could be completely gone and while the video continues to play and then slowly creep back a bit. I had tried a different HDMI and even got another unit from Walmart. Same issue.

I noticed the sound is very low for Internal device YouTube app only. I have a Samsung tv and sound bar. Even at 50 , the volume is very tinny. Does anyone have any similar issues ? Casting YouTube app video from my laptop to TV,, i see no volume issues. All other apps work fine.

Order was canceled for in store pickup (Brickseek says there are 6+ at basically every Walmart within 20 miles of me). Will try to have it shipped.

Is there a website that has step by step for adding external storage? I bought one of the cables, hooked up an SD card, and neither the device or VLC Media Player seems to be able to see the files on it.

Also, I am used to using Accuradio to stream music on the PC at work, and previously on the Roku. I know there is a Google Play app for it, but for some reason I have not been able to bring up the app on here when I look at Google Play using the ONN device.

Is there some way to get this to work in a browser, if for some reason the device can't load the Android Google Play Accuradio app? Thanks!

Had the same frustration on my older Shield Pro. Got the new remote and never looked back. This goes with new shield but they started selling it separately.

This is not criticism of Onn. I have one of those also for streaming. Shield is mostly for ota recording on plex.
If you use HD Homerun for OTA, check out Channels DVR. It runs surprisingly well on this Onn UHD.

I am not clear what you are asking.. I have a OTG cable for my firestick and that seems to read my flash drive, but if you are trying to add storage for apps, that youtube vid shows how it was done. It is a bit more complicated than the 2021 FireTv sticks, but the older (pre 2020) 4k needed to be adjusted too before you can move apps to external storage.

One odd thing I did notice is that I need to reboot after I add the usb stick, for it to show up..I use xplore and MX player to view usb and network files. So if you cant see your drive , try a reboot with your drive conected.

PS.. I did not set this up as in the youtube vid said to do yet (I will someday), I just plugged it in and rebooted.

Ok, I did not reboot after hooking up the cable and sd card. I'll try that, and then if VLC Media Player can't see the card/files, I'll try watching that youtube video.

I had this problem when I turned off HDMI CEC because that was causing problems with my sound bar. Once I turned it back on, sound was normal. I'm not sure if that's what you're dealing with because CEC should be on by default.

Was the flash drive initially formatted as FAT32? You should see a notification at the top right next to the Settings icon. You can also see the flash drive as Removable Storage in Settings > Device Preferences > Storage.

The X-plore app is a good file manager.

Been using the Onn for about a week now. Really like how fast and responsive it is. Using mostly SmartTubeNext, Kodi and VLC. 2 problems:

1. The remote lacks FFWD and REW buttons, this is annoying. Any way to reconfigure some of the other useless buttons (Nflx/Dsny/HBO) to act as FFWD/REW?

2. Dolby Digital passthru sometimes acts up resulting in loss of all audio, requiring restart. Don't think it's a problem with the TV or AV receiver because I never had the problem with Fire Stick 4K or Roku sticks.

This is the process I followed, it's worked for the Dynalink, Fire Stick 4K, and now the Onn:

.

Wow.. I just stumbled on thay issue.. I kept hitting the right directional button and nothing happend. I stopped and looked at the remote for a rewind or fast forward button and shrugged.. I do like the price on this but that is a issue for some apps.. I wonder if I pair a Fire stick remote if that would work?... Anyway I have not put my firetv cubes or sticks in the junk drawer yet.. Still giving the ONN a shot , but I am so used to the fire sticks and cubes that I think I will be giving away the ONN.. The chromecast remote is also missing those buttons rewind and fast forward buttons..

On Paramount Plus, I noticed that the ONN remote actually gives a LOT more control over fast forwarding than the Roku one does. Much improved.

Wait, am I reading this right - there is no way to use a USB stick to xfer compressed video files between a computer and this little unit? It can only be used for internal storage?
