If you do not have insurance, every Friday or so, Walgreens gives them for no charge to you.

It stinks that Publix stopped doing the $10 gift card.

Always ask the immunizer to show you the vial or syringe to confirm what shot you are getting. Most pharmacies use prefilled syringes for flu shots and you can read the name on the syringe label.

Man, that reporting kinds of burns me. The "Flu shot" is a vaccine. It's the influenza vaccine or, more specifically, four vaccines for the various strains which are expected to be the most prevalent over the next 8 months (or 3 if you have one of the less common trivalent versions). It's that kind of loosy-goosy language that confuses people about what they're really getting.

Now, they are correct that they received a C19 vaccine instead of a combined, 4 vector, A/H1N1, A/H3N2, B/Victoria lineage, and B/Yamagata lineage vaccine - which is BAD - but errors in pharmaceuticals are non-zero and it is worth double checking with the provider before you get the shot (just as you should check your pills when they are dispensed to make sure they are correct).

Walgreens does NOT give $5 rewards but a $5 rewards with $20 purchase coupon. Not in Texas. I got flu shot and got a lousy coupon

You can also check with your county health departments regarding free flu vaccine clinics.

Also, some hospital systems do free flu vaccine clinics for non-members. You have to check first though.

From GOODRX…

Many health departments and free clinics offer low-cost or free flu shots across the U.S. Here are a few examples:

Most colleges offer free flu shots for their students. Check on your school's website to confirm.
Military veterans enrolled in health care through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs can get a flu shot at their nearest VA health care facility. This program does not apply to family members of veterans.
Many county health departments offer free, or discounted, flu vaccinations during flu season. Examples include:
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, in partnership with select LA County Libraries, will offer free flu shots through November.
The San Francisco Health Department offers convenient locations for members of the public to easily access free or low-cost flu vaccines.
The Houston Health Department offers flu shots to uninsured and underinsured people on a sliding scale that ranges from free to $15.

Can't find a location near you on this list? Watch for announcements on your local news station or in your local newspaper — or search online for free flu shots in your area or through your city's health department.

Most people with half a brain know the "Flu Shot" is a vaccine. Anti-vaxxers certainly do. I feel like it'd take away from the main point of the story if they try to explain all the intricacies of what the flu vaccination entails, which is to make sure you get the correct thing.

OP, very misleading title. YOU DO NOT GET CASH REWARDS at any store, you get a coupon for x off an $xx purchase. So basically you have to spend another $15 on $20 worth of merchandise. That's not a cash rewards, it's simply a discount on items you have to buy and these coupons do have expiration dates on them too.

I've never heard of anyone paying directly for a flu shot. Insurance almost always covers these (they'd rather you get the shot than end up in the hospital). Lots of places in my area give them out for free if you don't have insurance.
