If you can get Dell S3220DGF (not S3222DGM) for about the same price(Microcenter has it for $349.96)-it's a better monitor.
it has HDR,better build quality...I did try both of them and kept Dell S3220DGF (Got from Best Buy,PM with Microcenter).
Compare them both here:

Back to last year's price finally. Good monitor for general use and gaming. I used a color profile I found online and looks great. Actual pixel response is about the lowest you'll get get for VA/IPS. Dell was too lazy to include a crosshair, though.

I can't complain at all since it's a lot cheaper than superior panels. Oh, and adaptive sync works perfectly.
HDR is a joke implementation on windows, so it's pretty irrelevant if you ask me. It just screws up nonHDR videos when I use it.

I'm tempted by this, but my GPU is far too weak for 165Hz to matter.

Question, is there a cheaper equivalent with a lower refresh that would save appreciable $$? And, any opinions on whether it's worth waiting for BF?

Hmm grab this or wait for BF deals? Hadn't upgraded my PC in 6-7 years and finally did. The 3080 needs a better monitor than an old benq 24 1080p 60hz

It's a better monitor in some ways, but not in every way: the DGM is a better monitor for gaming, as it has much better response times.
If you're going to be playing some FPS games, I'd give the nod to the DGM over the DGF.

I paid almost same price...Why not to have an HDR???
I watch some videos using HDR...It's not the greatest HDR,but pretty usable sometimes...
Also it has 4 USB3 hub, headphones out and audio out...
This monitor does not have it...

"Our Verdict
Dell S3220DGF

Dell S3222DGM

The Dell S3220DGF is better than the Dell S3222DGM overall, but the differences might not matter to everyone. The S3220DGF supports HDR, it has better ergonomics, and it has better connectivity, with a built-in USB hub. For gaming, the S3222DGM is a better choice, as it has an optional black frame insertion feature and a faster response time.

I don't play games,so,for me Dell S3220DGF is a better monitor...

I personally disagree. I had both of these, below is a copy paste from a previous post of mine comparing the two Dell monitors to the LG 32" that was FP a while back:

I have the DELL 3222DGM, snagged it for $321 plus tax direct from Dell, comes with a 3 year warranty which is nice; pixel density could be better but I'm ok with 1440p on a 32 inch screen, it looks incredible actually compared to my old 1080p 27". As others have mentioned Costco has the LG 32GN50T-B for 279.99 which is a good price also. I had the Dell 3220DGF (349.99 from Best Buy) and the LG 32GN650-B (basically same monitor as the 32GN50T, purchased from amazon for 299.99) alongside my current 3222DGM (I bought all 3 at the same time and compared side by side, I know, I'm crazy lol) and chose the 3222 based on brightness, refresh rate, black uniformity (barely ever noticeable but when I boot up my computer and see the black BIOS screen with awful backlight bleed it makes me cringe!), and text clarity (I do lots of office work on the computer alongside some gaming, and even though rtings rated the text clarity as very similar on all 3 monitors, it was significantly sharper on the 3222 when compared to the other 2 and this was ultimately the deciding factor). For the price I am very happy with the 3222. Other thoughts: HDR is lackluster on all of these (the 3222DGM doesn't even have HDR which I am fine with since HDR on the other monitors was not impressive), this is to be expected with nits ~350 on many of these panels; to my understanding you need >600 nits for a good experience (I just purchased a Samsung Q70A from BB and HDR on that is ok, I think you really need a OLED TV to take full advantage of HDR, maybe its just me, who knows...).

-edit: one more thing, the stand in the 3220DGF is much sturdier, less screen shaking when hardcore gaming LOL

Sounds like it is a winner for you. Personally, I am waiting for a deal on the S3422DWG.

32" 16:9 or 34" 21:9 ultra wide?

I need a monitor bad. My 3070 is using a 27" 1080p 60hz. The thing is i usually play role playing games or action adventure. I dont play FPS or racing games. I feel like the 165 hz does nothing but this is the best deal i've seen in a long time. im trying to get a 35" or 34".
