3rd gen is priced at $179.

Hard to guess if we will see discounts on the new model anytime soon.

For those that don't know, 3rd gen was released just a few hours ago: https://www.apple.com/airpods-3rd-generation/

Why is the price of 3's so outrageous? As much as pros but at least pros have anc. I don't think earbuds can even produce decent sound without tips.

I've had my second gen airpods for a little over 2 years now and I can tell a big difference in battery life. I probably get like 3-4 hours at the most before I have to recharge them.

It's been almost an hour since someone said this deal is dead.
I'm confident someone will come through for us again soon.

The pros now have MagSafe charging. So maybe you'll find a deal on the "older" pros but the MSRP didn't change.

My guess is you'll see places clearing them out, but maybe not much lower than the all-time lows we've seen for them previously - around $165.
The ones announced today are not PROS… why does everyone keep thinking that.

They are AirPod gen 3. (Non pro)

Ah okay, didn't realize they changed the Pros to MagSafe charging now

Um, but that wasn't the question I was answering.

The pros were also updated today.

Very upset about no noise cancellation on the 3rd generation
Same. No transparency mode on the 3's is a deal breaker. I was hoping to upgrade from a pair of Jabra's and that's a deal breaker. I use HearThrough on my Jabra's all the time when running with others or in high traffic areas. Guess I've been holding out for no reason and I'll get the AirPods Pro's.

Not here. I don't even use transparency or noise cancellation on my pros. I'm not a fan of the silicon tips either. This seems like a happy median for me.

That's pretty poor battery life. Was that when you first got them too or now that you're a couple of years out?

Highly recommend the 3yr replacement plan for $19.96 on these. Ive owned two pair and both had consistent audio issues after 1yr of ownership. Apple has refused to issue a recall on them even though the audio drop on calls and video is well documented. All troubleshooting, resetting, software/firmware updated with no success. I have yet to find another brand that compares so I keep coming back, but this time I intentionally bought them from Walmart for the 3yr third party replacement plan.
