I bought this TV in February from Best Buy for $1389+tax. Very happy with it.
Q: Does this tv support 120 hz?
A: Yes, but not at 4K. You can get 120 Hz at 1440p and 1080p.

Edit: I believe this is roku related and not tcls fault per other tvs
I don't believe any US market tv does 1440p.
I'm deciding between the same two TVs. It actually seems like the U6G might be just slightly better than the TCL according to rtings. Even if they're basically the same, the U6G is cheaper base price than this sale. I'm tempted by this deal, but maybe I'll wait and see if the U6G goes even cheaper closer to black Friday.
I was looking to upgrade to a QLED mini LED from TCL but it's going to be harder to find a deal for awhile. The supply chain is really broken, even my old used car is worth more now. Finding parts might be an issue down the road.
My 6 series is the one that is still going. 4 and 5 series bit it.
I think there are a lot of people claiming that the 75" Hisense TVs are ips panels, different than the VA panels that rtings reviewed.

Also I can confirm it does do 120hz on 1440p and vrr.
I saw those complaints too and it seems like nobody is sure. Rtings did address it in one of the questions. At one point it looked like they confirmed it to be a VA, but discussion is still going on the thread.

If you want a nice 6 series, get the Google version. 120 4k, hdmi 2.1, vrr, and decent user interface.

I am very happy with the televisions and the company.
Here's why I love this television…
- It's inexpensive. I was looking to trim my electric bill by weening my kid off the 60″ plasma. My kid loves it for games.
- It's pretty. It's not plasma and the picture fades if you are far to the left or right or far above or below the set, but from most of my living room, it looks great and I see no motion blur watching sports. I bought the second one to replace a 43″ plasma in my bedroom. Very satisfied.
- It's smart. Not smart like it can run apps (it runs the Roku OS). Smart like it remembers what input you last used when powered on. That means if you use an antenna, it comes up like a dumb television. For some of us, that is very nice.
- It's informative. Hit the back button on the remote and you get a full screen grid style EPG (Electronic Program Guide).
- It's tricky. Plug a 16g USB 2.0 thumb drive into this television and you will be able to pause, rewind, and fast forward through 90 minutes of television. This television does not record programs, but it does most of the things we do with a DVR.
So, for short money, you get a 55″ TCL 4K UHD Roku TV which is great for games and sports, remembers your preferences, has a nice EPG, and can pause a program long enough for you to answer the phone or eat dinner. What could be better than that?TCL also makes Android models. I would avoid these. The Android models have been found to have vulnerabilities. Google is evil...

This matched an alert for me because I am looking for a deal on their 75" Series 6 set. I want to pay no more than $1000. I don't think it's going to happen this year.
Best 75-inch TVs of 2021 | Tom's Guide (tomsguide.com) [urlhasbeenblocked.com]
The big-screened TCL 6-Series Roku TV (75R635) offers enormous value for it's affordable price, giving you a premium 75-inch picture and a great smart TV experience for much less than the competition. Just like the more expensive Samsung Neo QLED, the R635 delivers amazing quality with mini-LED backlighting in addition to QLED – technology that earned it a 2021 Tom's Guide Award for best TV innovation. The result is impressive color and brightness, with some of the best HDR performance we've seen on anything this side of an OLED display.
But TCL keeps delivering more, like THX Certified Game Mode, which makes the 6-Series one of the best gaming TVs available, even for new consoles like the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. From the design's smart touches, like cable management in the stand, to the always-solid Roku TV platform, the TCL 6-Series 75R635 is the best 75-inch TV value, and it's not even close.

TCL 6-Series Roku TV (R635) review: Verdict
For a set that's defined as much by it's value as it's features and picture quality, the TCL 6-Series Roku TV (R635) is one of the best sets on the market. The 6-Series has a well-earned reputation for premium quality at affordable prices, but the combination of QLED enhancement, mini-LED backlighting and a solid smart TV experience make it the clear winner among TVs that sell for under $1,000.
Even among past top picks, like the Vizio M-Series Quantum (M658-G1) and the 2019 TCL 6-Series (R625), the new R635 is the best value we've seen for the money, delivering excellent picture quality and plenty of features, including supporting next-generation game consoles. The whole package is enough to make the TCL 6-Series Roku TV (R635) one of the best TVs of 2020.
