Migrated sprint to T-Mobile.
Went to Costco, did their BYOD for $300. This will keep extending till end of year ish.
Went to Best Buy, transfer process took some time. You need to have T-Mobile essentials minimum for this deal, we had to switch from Essentials 55+ on the spot but our Best Buy associate was great and handled calling for us. But then he got it working.
The first Best Buy we went to said we'd pay tax based off the original price. This second Best Buy calculated tax off the discounted price.
iPhone 13 mini 256gb original price is $799. Traded in an iPhone X 256gb worth $390.
Costco BYOD Device Sim = +$7.50
Costco Tax = +$0.58
Costco BYOD Shop Card = -$300
Best Buy iPhone 13 mini 256gb = +$409.99
Best Buy tax = +$36.92
Best Buy 5G Sim = +$9.99
Best Buy tax = +$0.88
Net loss = $165.86. Pretty happy with that.
At home: Backup your trade-in device to iCloud. Erase and reset the trade-in device, remove the sim, and have your state ID ready. Print the "ready for pickup" email from Best Buy. Or if you don't want to print the email, use another device that has access to that email electronically that you can take to the store.
At Best Buy: Hand over the trade-in device and ID to the employee at the mobile desk when asked. They will look at the trade-in device for 10 seconds for any damage, and then hand you your new 13. Takes 5-10 minutes at most for the entire process. Then go home.
At home: Pop in your old sim. Power up the phone. Log into home Wi-Fi. Set up your new 13 using your recent iCloud backup. Enjoy your new phone.

If you are seeing $10 charge on new sim cards, tell the rep you want to use the old one .
I was not aware of that $10 charge until I picked up the 3rd one.
My old sim cards from iPhone 12 work exactly same as the new one.
